Leaf Cupping?

Hello all,
I'm a newbie on my first grow and am just starting off.
One of my plant's leaves are curling up along the edges. Now, I've read that that may be due to high temps, but my cabinet stays @ a steady 73 degrees which I would assume isn't too high of a temp. Humidity in the cab is low (35% currently), so could that be a factor?
I've also heard/read that cupping is pretty much due to water being loss @ too great of a rate. If that's so I could water it more, but thus far I've only watered when the pot feels light or the soil feels dry on the surface inch or so. I don't want to overwater it, that's what happened to my last try, which resulted in mold.
So in short, I need the help of more experienced growers out there. Any suggestions?

...what kind of light are you using? ...how close is your light to the plant? ...what is your ph? ...what type of medium are you using? (soil)
...humidity should be around 70 - 80% during veg if possible, so, you can just set a open bucket of water in the room to raise the humidty

usually happens from heat or RH. RH during veg should be around 60%.

Heat on top of the plant should be around 72-76 degrees. Even 78-80 is OK.

If you can't raise the grow room humidity, try giving them a light spray on the underside of the plant a couple of times a day. Fixes my young plants right up. I have the same problem in my tent, and the RH normally comes up as you get more plant respiration.

Good luck with your grow.

I'm using 315W of CFLs that are about 5in from the tops, I know they could be a bit closer, but I wouldn't think it's too close. Soil pH stays around 7. Medium is a soil, peat moss, vermiculite, perlite mix @ a 4:1:1:1 ratio. I'll try the open bucket and give them a light spray as suggested as well. Thanks you all...:-P

I had that problem, and it was because the Humidity was WAY too low in my grow room.
I got a hydrometer and it said "Lo" which meant < 15% humidity... I bought a humidifier for $20 at walmart, and I keep it around 50-60%... my plant loves it.

40-60 percent is just fine. 70 and above, here comes the mold again:wall:

Yep, I agree. Also you can usually raise rh in a small tent by simply setting a container of water directly in front of the tents air intakes. Pour a bit of steaming water in your container and watch it rise!

So since reading the responses, I've placed a bucket of water near the intake hole and have been giving the plants a light spray everyday. Humidity is up to 44% and the leaves are the curling is minimal on some leaves and non-existent on others. So thanks for all that gave advice and to those having the same problem, now you know how to fix it! :) Gotta love RollItUp!

im not the most experienced individual out there, but i have read that there is such a thing as too much light. to me, 315 watts seems like a shit-ton for a seedling.

Obviously, though, the RH is a factor. Maybe the humidity/light ratio ?
