Leaves are curling down or canoeing

If someone could help me out please. My plants are a couple of weeks into flowering and some of the leaves are dark green and new leaves are coming out curled down. I had miracle grow shake and feed in in about a month ago, and I'm guessing that my plants are over fertilized. I have taken out as much as I could see and trying to flush the plants. Please take a look at the photo and tell me what you think.

I know I messed up with the shake n' feed, but it's my first grow, and better I make mistakes with regular seeds that with white widow. Can someone take a look at my pic and please confirm or not on my over fertilization hunch.

This seems to be a repeating problem with many growers in which there seems to be no definite answer. Just take note of everything you do and stay consistent!

The definite answer is Nitrogen overdose. Back off the nutes or get one with a lower N ratio.

Dark green foilage that curls under like that, usually accompanied by rapid growth that's weak (stems are frail) all indicate Nitrogen OD.

That's what I figured. I have those damn shake n feed pellets in the soil. The plant is too big to re-pot it (about 3 feet tall). I figure the only thing to do is water as much as possible to flush these pellets.

Things curl when they get DRY. Dry is lack of moisture.

Lack of moisture comes from: Not Watering=your'e not THAT stoned

Nute burn=too much fert or nute lock If a plant doesn't take up the nitrogen in the soil well in 5-6 days that is a LOT of N in the soil cause we tend to keep feeding them

Bugs=specifically spider mites They SUCK the juice out of the leaves

Those pictures made me think MITES. BTW mites show all sorts of crazy symptoms because basically mites result in deficient: N, P, K, micronutes, you name it.

Have a REAL good look at the underside of your leaves

It's not bugs or moisture problems of any sort. IT'S TOO MUCH NITROGEN. Experience is the best teacher here and I had this little problem with my last grow, you can search for the post.

Best indicators of N-OD:
- Dark green leaves
- New growth is thin (leaves and usually stems)
- New growth is severely curled, often looks like a claw or canoe. Old(er) growth is too, but not usually as bad, just depends on how long it's been ODing

I don't know if flushing is the answer here, since watering unleashes the nutrients. It would be my usual suggestion if that weren't the case. I've never used nutes like that so hopefully someone with some experience there knows what to do.

You are def right on the problem. Too much nitrogen. My first grow, so mistake are made. I'm just trying to figure out how to get these pellets out or on how to deactivate them. Even if I transplant it, these little pellets will come with it. Like you said maybe someone with experience in this problem can help me out. Thanks.

Definitely way too much nitrogen, no doubt about it. I had the same problem with one of my mothers that I have in the same type of soil (with osmocote pellets). Just flush out the soil with 2 or 3 gallons of fresh water and that should do the trick. Don't bother trying to get the pellets out. Just flush to get the free salts out. The pellets will continue to release nutes into the soil, but with regular (once a month) flushing, you'll keep the nitrogen build up at bay.

This is the reason why most people avoid slow release plant food, it continues to release nutes even if the plant doesn't need it, whereas when you feed with liquid nutes you can adjust for the plant's needs. Live and learn I guess :)

Thanks for your help and to everyone else who responded as well. I also waited too long to start flowering. I started the flowering process when the plants were almost 2 feet. Now they are growing out of control. They passed the 3 foot mark with only about 2 weeks into flowering. I def won't make these mistakes my second time around.

Something else you have to worry about is too much Nitrogen delays flowering. Don't go by how it looks, look at the trichs through a scope.

I had a beast of a plant (in the end it yielded 15Ozs from ONE plant). I let that fat bitch flower for 13 weeks before chopping it. Ultimately it turned out to be mediocre smoke because after 13 weeks, it STILL wasn't done. I think it's because of multiple factors, but the Nitrogen OD in flowering is a big culprit IMO.

You can see that plant as well as my pics of an overdosed plant here:

Ive had issues like this before. Either flush it, or let it be. You could also just use ph balanced water. Instead of feeding it.
