I'm running 315W CMH lights vertically, BARE, and my plants come within 6" before they scorch.

well the reflectors do concentrate
i would expect 6" from the side of a bulb to be less bright than an even greater distance from a reflector concentrating most of the light from the bulb into one direction

Wow, nice vertical setup! Guys here have been saying they think their 315W CMH lights are good for about 500W of HPS. I'm not sure how you'd get 4 to fit in 5 vertical feet but if you could I think they'd do very well for you.
On the COB LED front, I'm not sure how well that would do for you because you've built your whole setup around the assumption of omnidirectional lighting. In order to get the most from my COBs, I had to change my setup to vertical flat panels, the round approach wasn't doing it.
So which , in your opine , is better l.e.c vertical or flat panel l.e.d?

I hung mine from the ceiling with baling wire or the lamp cord.
For a COB design;
This idea reminds me of Nomad, a four sided aluminum box with fins inside, COBs outside, that another guy made for his vertical setup. He changed his mind and decided to run them separately, but I think the idea is basically sound.
For such a design, I'd strongly recommend 100 degree glass lenses; 100 degrees for good spread and glass lenses because you'll be cleaning anything you foliar spray off of them regularly. The chips themselves are far too fragile to handle such treatment, so it's important to protect them.

Lol, I'm running 315W CMH in my veg, but I'm running 860W CDM Allstart lamps vertically in bloom. These are being phased out in favor of COB LED.

Which is ur 315w? Looks like MH and HPS, looks a Lot more red then either lamp I'm running.

Read both post. One says u started installing ur 315w's with a 600 in back. Then u say it is a 860w cmh in front, refer to a 315 in veg then post immediately post a pic of a bloom room with no 315w.

No, Sir- you're just a lil confused, I'll see if I can explain better; I showed a pic with a 315W CMH in front and a 600W HPS in back. And that's not a bloom room. You asked where I'm using 860W CDM Allstart lamps and I said I'm using them in bloom, but did not show a pic of one.
