I have a 2x3x5 grow space im looking for a 2 cob build with the most efficiency and efficiacy -- im only growing max 3 plants at a time (leaning towards cxb3590 cob, but any other builds welcome) -- id prefer it if I could replace the cobs in this thing http://www.amazon.com/Roleadro-Light-Spectrum-Hydroponic-Indoor/dp/B00U2DP48I -- that i "accidentally" purchased (impatiently) before i found about about diy -- the enclosure is still nice along with the fans the thing already has so ill save a few bucks -- appreciate all the help and advice in advance

The only way to do that is to open it up and find out what type of heatsinks are in it. You might end up needing to replace them and you'll also likely need a new driver. If that light is working I would just sell it and use the money towards your own small DIY. Either that or buy something like THIS that will rock your tent for 2 or 3 plants.

they are active heatsinks with 120mm fans -- i think they should be sufficient right? I'm also aware I will need to purchase a new driver.. I don't trust these drivers in this enclosure anyways -- I just dont want to be left stranded with no light in the middle of the grow if this thing dies on me.. so I want to order a cheap but reliable solution for 3 plants that I can just replace this current setup with

In a 2x3 I would look into three cobs driven off the hlg-120 meanwell driver at 1400ma. This will give you up to 150 watts to use and can be set up to dim as well

You could save money by using 3 Vero 29 4000k v2 and one HLG-H185-C1400. The cobs are about $24 each and the driver is about $65. The only thing you need to do is get 3 heatsinks. Many people use a simple CPU heatsink like the Arctic Cooling types you see in other threads. Simple and excellent heatsink for about $10-$15 each. The Mean Well driver has dimming so you can use your lights from seed to harvest with no problems. There are always passive heatsinks you can choose from also which don't need active (fans) cooling.

I believe Tasty Led uses the matching driver to whatever the name is. -1400 = the drive current or t2-2100 = 2100ma.

It looks like you might be able to use your light and just replace the cobs. It might not be the best driver in the world but the specs look like they would run a couple cree cobs. Kinda hard reading the specs in the picture. Maybe someone else could chime in.

I'll go home and check the details on the driver but as grower said it's 50w max per driver

Why not just return the light and go from scratch? And tasty uses hlg185-1400, 1750,2100 if I remember correctly. What's your budget?

I would think 4-CXB3590, 72v, 3500K, CD bin $198, 1-HLG-185H-C700A $67, a 24" x 5.88" extruded heat sink $32, a pc fan pro 20 or so $15, a LDD 12/12 1W power supply for the fan $10, (200W) and you are good to go. perhaps leave the other unit for something else, and build one. peace

my boys are coming in may for vacation from the states so they wanted some good shit while here hence the other motivation for growing it...plus the awesome learning aspect and it's something that keeps me busy here -- it's lonely and boring and I've been enjoying every bit of this -- I'm gonna be selling off the equipment locally there are some underground growers here who are showing interest none are as advanced as the people in the states they mostly do outdoor or small cfl grows
