LED christmas light would it work for a GROW?

I'd think if you got enough of 'em it could work. Get a some white, red and blue and mount them into an array.

I want to wrap them around my stalks for supplemental light on the inside of the canopy! Also It would make my plants look in season
But I think you have to pick out some in a usable spectrum. I'm not sure if the commercial ones from philips work, but Maybe the red or blue ones are usable. I know I've seen some that use the 1w bulbs.
Been trying to find out, and came across this. Thought it would be sick if this worked.

eh? your mean... get 125W-250W cfl's or hps grow lamps. 6400K blue cfl for veg and 2600K red bulbs for flower

i hate leds and led grower for this fact a 1 wat led is a 1 wat led weather itsa christmas light ot a 3000 dollar setup in a aray at a grow shop and same for 3 wat leds a stran of leds on the stalk could be no worsre or better than a 3000 dollar led grow light go for it good idea leds are leds.
i fuckinc hate leds grows and 99% of leds growers would laugh at u and call u stupid but their is no diff no matter what they say 1 wat or 3 wat leds as long as the wats are the same the leds is theme prally even originated from the same place in china.

I think this idea would work about as well as most LED grows I've seen.
I'm not saying it can't be done, It's just really hard to get enough of them.

You are the kind of troll who starts flame wars. Don't say things that are not true. LED grow lights are very differen't than Christmas Tree LED lights. Not all LEDs coming out of China are the same, virtually everything you said was entirely false.
Anyway, no Christmas LED lights won't help! Just get more CFLs if you are not willing to make the jump to HID or proper LED grow lights yet.
too many people think lights are lights and that's the end. This simply isn't true. There is reason proper horticulture lights are a premium over the crap you put in your home fixtures or hang on your tree. This is even more so with LED's, the pure number of components of varying quality and spectrum is astounding, and the number of them that are worthless for plants is huge.
I suggest, in the future, you do more research before you put forth garbage as fact. The reality is that different technologies produce different amounts of light per watt. This is typically referred to as a power factor, but you also have to understand that there is a bit more at work that you'd have to take some physics and electrical eng classes to really understand.
Anyway, to set the record straight, unless you're talking about hid, rarely is lumens/par/anything a constant per watt
