LED Companies w/ LINKS

For anyone interested.. I've taken off the front Perspex and PVC sheet to show the LED's inside the Plant Photonics 140w panel.IMG_2004.jpgIMG_2010.jpgIMG_2011.jpgIMG_2012.jpgIMG_2013.jpg

I'd be curious to see that "opinion", you don't provide any link or other info. Are we supposed to trust you that Osram LEDs are bad instead of basically every one else, who is telling they are good? I mean, if there was some kind of ground under this why not, but here it is actually hard to believe you.
Again for stoner clarification, his opinion and I sighted plant photonics who breaks down his opinion of the SSL diodes, this is his opinion and my point to Psuagrow was that considering we both are minnows in the understanding of diode technology I would err on the side of more experience in Richard at plant photonics who has proven to build really good quality panels. As for the gent above who links to woes for the evo's this is not false, many people are struggling with them. This in no way means that I am dissing Osram diodes, I'm sure the direction they are heading in is great but right now lets let the results speak for themselves instead of a marketing campain that could frankly say anything, governements lie, corporations lie, why is it not beyond the realm of possibility that Osram would lie...even if it is until they iron out the kinks. This sort of practice is common place and 17 years as an industrial designer seeing that happen.

On a personal note I think everyone reading this on this forum needs to start changing the way they keep demanding links to evidence all the time, are we all not capable of finding information without being babysat with a hypoerlink to so called "evidence".

I'm not here for you or to prove anything to you, I'm here to discuss and it is your perogative (Colloquially speaking of course) to find evidence yourselves, this act is what keeps your brain active. Next you'll be asking me to wipe your ass for you...

I've read the thread with the help of my good friend google translator and it appears they say nothing bad about them. They seem to resist a bit less to high temperatures (125°C for Oslon SSL vs 150°C for Cree XP-G) and the thermal resistance from the die to the heat pad is a bit higher on the Oslon but really no big deal. Those are mainly problems in flashlights because the cooling is much more rudimentary there.
Most of all, as PSU said, they are all talking about the whites but not the colored ones so basically it is hard to draw conclusions from there. Anyway I think we're pretty far away from the "racket" newworldicon was talking about.
Why don't you put words in my mouth buddy..??? go ahead, make a mountain out of a mole hill why don't you. Weed sometimes makes people stupid. For the record there is no conspiracy, read plant photonics opinions which have nothing to do with me. As for the evo's and problems, there is too much complaint on the internet to deny the issues there.

I'll call you David the sheep hearder from now on out...look there's a wolf..

What? As a matter of fact I didn't find anything about this on plantphotonics website.
I found a grow where the man yields 2gpw in a very small space off a DIY panel featuring Osram chips, I think that somehow reflects what's being said in their datasheet. But I don't put a link because that would mean I'm wiping your ass? Seriously man, what the fuck? Is it a crime to source info, especially when it goes against general opinion?

Hey Newworld.........no need to get pissed off brother........and I agree with pat because I've checked plantphotonics website and their is no mention of his dislike of Osram leds anywhere!.............we are all here to help each other out with this new growing tech/calling people names doesn't positively contribute to the discussion IMO......:joint:

Email from the rhinos:

The LED's are 3 watt Osram LEDs. We are driving them at about 80% of their capacity. Their are 72 LED's and we are driving them at about 172 watts

I'd like to see some par metrics on these now...

whhhheeeeew goddamn running them at 80% ..... how long of a warranty they got? i cant see them lasting to long running them so hard

also from rhinogrow......

the osram leds are driven at 2.4 Watts......
the driver is a mean well.......case that hides the driver connections can be removed
the driver has a set of screws which allows you to dim or overdrive the leds (not recommended by dean) on the fly....
the cord length can not be extended because it's"potted"whatever that means..
the acrylic protector plate can easily be removed for more light output but the mcpb is not water proof so care should be taken........

I think running the reds at 2.4W (1A) is a mistake. See from the curves above, they won't keep their nice light output for very long at this kind of current. 90% after 4000h (1 year more or less), 80% after 20000h (5y). That doesn't seem to look very good.

yeah that's what he emailed me....maybe he's generalizing and averaging out to 2.4 Watts.......it seems dangerous to run them hot with just a large aluminum heat sink and no fans (which I like)....I'll try to get more specifics about each NM's forward voltage....

Harvest is near. The Doublebubble berry under the plantphotonics is amazing. Some of the buds are huge! The bud's under Han's panel ain't too bad either:) I think i over done it on the fert even though i was being careful.IMG_2020.jpgIMG_2017.jpgIMG_2014.jpg

So Friday afternoon I ordered another Plant Photonics 70 watt panel:) Recently I sold my Roland Juno 6 synthesizer and my Moog slim phatty synth to fund a new wardrobe and new lights. I plan on having the Vipar A300, 70w Plantphotonics and the 60w Han's panel in the new wardrobe and the 140w & 70w in my current cabinet. I will start a double journey when i get the new wardrobe up and running:) The wardrobe i just bought is a beautiful bit of furniture made of Mahogany in the 1950's. I'm wondering the best way to air/light seal it without ruining it. I can't wait to get going! :)

Sorry i don't know where else to rant.

the Hans panel is doing really well considering it's got two girls under it and less than half the wattage of the other panel....nice job digi

True. But 1 plant is getting some of the light from the Plantphotonics..never the less, the han's panel can do big things:)

really nice looking buds, digi! how close are they to the canopy?
Thanks Mr puff.
The panels are about 8 inches from the canopy. A bit too close but i let this girl get too big, but the plants always handle it and maybe put on more weight:)

Looking good @digi. Nice looking buds.

Okay so reading the responses to all this Osram stuff and all I can tell behind the dust and scuffling is that they are troublesome, hence failures that seem to be mentioned on icmag etc.

Guys I am not hating or wanting to argue with anyone, greek boy you are not a sheep herder, I am just highly stressed lately and thats my problem and not anyone elses. But I am just trying to bring to light that on various other sites people are having issues with their evos and as it turns out my friend in Bern is having issues already with his units, hence it is wise to err on the side of caution. And considering it will seemingly take so long to get a evo that by that time even blackstar* will be producing units with these diodes making it obsolete it seems.

Anyway they look great but whats the point if you wait so long that others are offering the same caliber by then. Seems a shame.

I'm off to Russia to get fuck drunk and go hunting, forget the BS back home and unwind....anyone want anything from there?? No Eastern European women plz, I can vouch for them being hard work, my GF is like having an affair with 6 different women. LOL.

* disclaimer: To all blackstar users, this is just a joke, no need to get your knickers in a knot, we all know they are from the trashy side of town LOL.

Who of you guys here rates this new advanced XML units, I would appreciate brutal opinions on them as I am still looking around for new panels, hydroponicshut can suck my dick with their service, the panels are great but boy am I having issues.

Who reckons a good grow in aero under this 135W can get 2gpw with 2.5ft sq canopy size??
