That is a picture of a unit powered on, and they look like cool white too me. The SPD shows it too.
Where is the peak in the middle coming from?...the peak equal to the blue peak? Are they using greens too?...I think not.


You don't see phosphor when lights are on, specially cool white.

If those diodes in the vividgro v2 are cool white, then I need to get my eyes checked, seriously......they look really blue to me? Lol

I see the spd, and think they should word their description better IMO...that

3 red to 1 white???? It is a 3:1 panel. Could it be a 7000K+ white which is basically a blue pump with additional blue phosphor which might explain the blueness of it???? IDK at 65 degree beam angles and 64 lbs she's nothing but trouble . "Proprietary VividGro" indeed !

Plus that's not a typical spectrum chart they're using is it ?

Anyway they announced these back in July. Maaaan LOL, LED companies, none of them with the exception of maybe CREE, can release shit when they say they're gonna. Hello Luminus Horti diodes that were supposed to be released last month . Anyhoo I think it's a high K blue like the 12,000K "white" I used to use.

I could have sworn I saw a different SPD indicating lots of blue and lots of red when I originally posted this, but I was probably just imagining things.

I visited an LSG factory back in 2007 or so and have never seen an LED company as obsessed with quality control. This was back in the early days of high power LEDs when they were making their high power engines which were something of a precursor to COBs.

One half of my A51 lamp just took a shit on me, it lasted 6 months, o well. The other two hanging in there.

foolishly thought the same, I just figured this was V2(higher wattage, updated osram ssl 80?) of the LSG R/B that Bugbee tested back in the day, which gave a higher umol/j than their R/W fixture?<<don't quote me on this..............spd's generally don't lie though, except if your philips.....lol..............GG's right on this being a R/W fixture until I get an email back from them( i had to, it's just my nature)

Sounds like a driver issue(RW?), a51 will take care of it.........you should check if any connections are loose inside first , could also switch the quick connects from the working side to confirm it's the driver....

Good to email a51 before breaking tape on screws.

You like your Pro-Grows? I just bought the new X5-500. Waiting on it now. Wish me luck cuz I hear mixed reviews. But the bad ones don't really seem to own them when the good reviews do. 1400 PPF would be impressive for a consumption of only ~650W, although I see no data backing this claim. I wonder if they will be using optics or not, as that sort of makes an impact on how well tiny leds perform with respect to the garden.

Did anyone else picture Randy from Trailer Park Boys towards the last five seconds of the clip?

Mega's 1400 ppf # is straight out of an integrating sphere..........NOT flat pane measurement and averaging that shit like you see allot around here==== as @guod said lots of "disney math" going on. PAR map should be available in the next couple of weeks, fixture is still pending approval.

Gavita did 1700ppf on the same ul listed power supply(1150w/1.5ppf/w)

no secondary lenses or reflectors, using just the primary samsung optic(which is a UL sealed device)......it's damp location rated, can be ip66 (conformal coating)on request.

Nick is one of the smartest guys I know in the industry, he is willing to test your mothership or most efficient fixture in the sphere and see how it compares=== if you send it to him

More mid power based lights rocking the sphere . Wish they weren't so tough for the average Joe to assemble, too much work IMO or you're stuck using prefabbed stuff for too much $$$ but seeing those numbers really makes me lean to using smaller CREE COBS in clusters of 4 or 5 to replace the Illumitex based DIY I use to beat the shit out of my plants with . Still I'm soooooo sick of the words "120 degrees" on COB/CSP/Medium SMD. Is 80 that tough?????

I need a light for my 2x2 Veg tent, I have a budget of $200. This tent will be mainly for rooting a few clones and vegging one plant to a decent size before its moved into my larger tent, this will be sort of a temporary set up until I acquire more room in the near future.

The tent will have some air cooling but not enough to run a metal-halide in my opinion.

I plan to buy a quality light or build my own in the future but now is not a good time..

Can anyone recommend the "best" LED light for $200 or under? I'm aware its most likely going to be a piece of crap and not last very long.. But hey that's what cheap products do, Oh also I've seen the Area 51's on this site and although they are nice, I cant wait a month I need this light ASAP. Thank you.

If you can't wait for a quality LED, and have your heart set on only LEDs, then Mars Hydro is probably your best bet given your price limit. They have a bad rep around here for being unreliable but if they don't break they can veg great.

I was just looking at veg lights on Amazon and honestly, for a $100 or less you can go with a couple 2ft T-5s or a 250w CFL. They'll do a great job as well.

Can't say I'm stuck on LED but I have really been wanting to try it.

Just curious out of the three options LED, T5, CFL for $200 or under in a 2x2 tent which option would potentially provide the best veg results? I would probably base my decision off of that..

Although I was thinking that if this LED light lives beyond a few months it could be re-purposed by going into my flower tent with my HPS light.
