They have no output numbers of any "kind" on their site. And super high price for a light that is just a variation of a chinese light.

And the 2013 Panel Wars continue with Plant Photonics introducing their new line, with thanks going to vladimiroslav for pointing this out in another thread.

The New Models Are Here!!
Brightest and best in the World!

My old lights were excellent, but I believed I could improve them still further. I have taken everything I have learned over those 3 years and created a new family of grow lights – the Amethyst DS. These are (watt for watt) the most efficient and powerful lights in the world. That is not an exaggeration, it is a fact. I am now exclusively using Osram Oslon SSL 80 leds in my lights. With their super high efficiency (almost 50%) and built in 80 degree optics, these leds deliver more light to the plants than any other led in their class. More than Cree, Philips Lumileds or any other led. Our lights are vastly more powerful for the wattage than other lights, feedback from customers show our lights to be 2 to 4 times more powerful per watt than other led lights, and that includes all of the top selling brands.
The combination of the most efficient leds available, top quality materials, ease of repair and fantastic reliability mean that as well as being the best lights, they are also the CHEAPEST to own! The high efficiency means they consume far less electricity than other lights, so after about 18 months your electricity savings will have paid for the light, and because Plant Photonics lights are designed to last you for life instead of the couple of years you get from the Chinese lights, the savings keep coming year after year!
Features

  1. [*=center]Genuine Osran Oslon SSL 80 leds – NOT packaged chips.
[*=center]2 mm Metal Cored Printed Circuit Board, 2 oz copper layer, 2.2 WK thermal layer.
[*=center]Separate Vegging and Flowering spectrum's selectable by switch.
[*=center]Low power vegging mode for small seedlings, cuttings etc.
[*=center]Waterproof, metal cased constant current power supplies.
[*=center]High quality Exilence brand fans running at reduced speed – totally silent!
[*=center]All power connections made with genuine Molex connectors for reliability.
[*=center]Genuine Plexiglass lens, more transparent than glass or other plastics.
    [*=center]Quality stainless steel hardware.
[*=center]Lacquered, hard anodised aluminium case with riveted construction.
[*=center]Easily serviced by the owner – fans and power supplies can be changed in 5 minutes!

Although they look similar, there are a lot of differences from the old lights. These result in a light which provides more light while running cooler and quieter than any other light available. They are also very versatile providing dedicated spectrums for both the vegging and flowering stages AND they also have an new extra mode – Low Power/Eco Vegging. This gives you a vegging spectrum at about 2/3 of normal power, saving electricity when you have small plants. There are some other nice touches, like the fact the power cable can be attached to either side of the light for convenience. Another big difference is that I can now produce the lights MUCH faster having invested in allot of new equipment. I also wanted to make it easier for growers to tell whether they were getting the leds they paid for. I am not using packaged chips, I am using genuine Osram Oslon SSL 80 leds, please see photo of some of our stock of leds . Sadly other companies are still using cheap leds and claiming they are Cree etc. chips! Strangely though they wont provide any photos of the chips or documentation to prove it!

"Each light has two coverage areas given: Perfect and larger one, OK. The Perfect size is the area that will give optimum results and the OK size is a larger area that will still give good results. These sizes are based on the last generation of lights and are likely to be conservative applied to these new lights. I have added a new metric to help customers choose the correct light. Each light has a comparison to traditional MH/HPS lights. This value is approximate, but is based on feedback from expert growers. The feedback was for the old style lights and was unanimous that a 140 watt light was equal to or slightly more powerful than a 400 watt MH/HPS. Based on light readings from the new lights, I calculate that a new 140 watt light will equal a 500 watt MH/HPS. As soon as I get feedback on the new lights, I will update this figure as I believe it is easier for most growers who are familiar with the performance of MH/HPS lighting."

Lots of bold statements really but has shipping been upgraded to a more rational price? Still gotta love boutique grade gear $$$$. LOL

27% blue on the bonsai heroes? That's the same amount you'd find in 6500k, but obviously much more red. Should be interesting how that does for flowering with that much blue.

^^^They're supposed to be for your moms but I bet you could run a SoG/SCroG with them. More blue is more leaf in flowering, so if you love making hash from OG Kushes, Go Blue :)! And aren't you supposed to be building something instead of looking at panels ;).

We've discussed this before about Hans mother panel; it's unnecessary as the flowering panel on the second mode does the same with less Watts and gives the option of running full flower mode as well == no brainer:-P

And Hans new panel is not a going to be major upgrade IMO, his lack of info or BS hints to me just pisses me off.....he's just having a little fun Dick teasing us.....ha

Hoo boy, tough crowd. LOL Yeah I guess there v2 versions never took off. I wonder what the mA the drivers are running at? Something tells me they run/ran their drivers too low in order to have passive cooling, though that's pure speculation.

Well I will say this, at least OSRAM recognizes people grow with LEDs and try to help/capitalize. Go to CREE and type in horticulture and see what you get. Last time I looked it was a big fat "0".
