LED Grow Lights?

Damn, I was just about to start a thread on this. I've been looking on eBay for LEDs and there appear to be some good deals, but I've never actually heard of someone (besides the seller) grow with them. I'm thinking about supplementing my T5 system with some LEDs for flowering if it's worth it.
 
I have played around with them vegged one plant under them and did not like the results. If you are going to buy them stay off ebay. I do have a friend that is doing awesome with LEDs but he also has unlimited funds and his lights were about 100 a piece and he has over 20. I am building a box lined with LEDs but a 3"x3" section takes an hour if I rush it. so it will be done in a year or so.
 
LED's have years to go before they can be used for growing pot successfully.
I've read several tests on this and the growers almost always in an attempt to save there grow, ditch the led's in favor of any other light source, even CFL's.

And they are DAMN expensive. For a person to replicate the light output and coverage of a 1000 hps they'd have to spend THOUSANDS of $$$.

for now, you'd be better off going digital HID, IMO.

I am work whit a SL-600 i have by at goledgrow on-line shop and i have made whit 16 plants 1 week and a half growing and i have made 1 pound les 10 g , it a litle bit expensif to buy but for now a have see a diifence on my elec bill and no heat probleme

If somebody have same thing and god info let me now !!!!
 
So the LEDs are no good is what I am hearing . No one has any good stuff to say ? How many of these would I need to produce the light of a 1000w Halide ?
 
I'll pass on Led's the supposed 400w hps comparison is laughable
My homie uses these and even he admits they are shitty compared to a hps
Unless you really just spend a arm and a leg and have like 6 LED UFO's
id just use HPS
I dont pay that much for running two 600ws to really wanna sacrifice gains in growing
Thats just my opinion, dont take it to the heart LED fans
Personally i just do not like them.

i just got two 90w tri band ufos and a 400w mh/hps one ballast one hood and two bulbs , room is 8x4 gonna go with soil . how does anyone think this will work ?

I am experimenting with them now. I have also seen test where they out perform HID. Personally I think theyre doing fine and possibly better than my 400 watt system. I also know where to find them cheap. I can tell u I wont be ditching shit except maybe HID. Dont kid yourself, they are the future.
 
I wouldn't buy any other LED than from PROSOURceworldwide, 90day trial, AND there have been VERY successful grows with these LEDs. One of the main things people say is get the correct LED's. 9/10 something from ebay/china isn't going to cut it. You get what you pay for.
 
I know someone using a couple 90 watt ufo's - 2 different brands, the cheaper one is doing better for the plants surprisingly. I am going to switch asap. they are phenominal, truthfully. I saw a 600 watt that uses only 327 watts with a step up transformer that will outyeild a 1000watt hps easy using 327 watts. only problem is the price up front, this one is around $1,200. but you have to think about electricity savings over time, it will pay for itself. And this is the future of lighting, everywhere I go, I see HID being on clearance sale. Pretty soon you wont be able to buy a replacement bulb for your HID light, then how good of a deal will that digital ballast be?
