Hey guys just finished a long drive today. Glad to see that people are learning from this. That is the point as Defcon said. Hey guys I know you are using T5, so I did some more reasearch. T5 is the same diameter as a CFL. CFL is just twisted to compact the length of the tube. I think you guys are seeing heat stress because more heat is generated from the smaller diameter bulb due to less surface area to dissipate heat. Ever touch a CFL directly after it has been on for 10 minutes?? Those freaking things get hot. I know someone took the temp on one of them and it was like 190 degrees F on the glass itself. T8's I know drop it lumen output, but also dissipate heat better due to larger surface area. Not saying one is better than the other, cuz each has drawbacks.. but that is the reason for your heat stress. with T5's that close
