LED HID or CMH?

Hey guys I'm looking for a better light for my tent and I'm having some mixed opinions myself so looking for yours. I have a Mars Hydro ts1000 and also have vivosun 400w mh/HP's wing reflector and bulbs. My tent is a small square 32"x32"x63". I feel like HIDs too hot for that small of a tent but the ts-1000 I feel like isn't strong enough so I'm looking for the best LED I can get for that small of a tent with a budget of $400. Or do I get it air cooled hid or CMH I have a 6 inch inline fan?

I swear by cmh being the best light out, but after having to air cool and putting another layer of glass between the bulb and plants, I believe it will take away much of the UV's that it produces. If heat is an issue, you should go with LED.

I'll get swiped right for this but i see alot of LED having issues with dimming or not being able to...so my ancient 400w Apollo dimmable ballast is kicking all the LEDs ive seen so far to the curb.
To get the air cooled hood is like $50 so it might be worth a try before going full monty on a new LED

How much cooler does a 315w CMH run then I 400w hid? In the wintertime hid isn't too bad but the summer it gets way too hot. It seems like everyone is moving in the LED Direction kind of what I'm trying to do but want the same yields and same quality as an HID

I'm kind of realizing that in a tent especially a small one LED is probably the way to go so I don't have to worry about plant height restrictions heat stress low humidity from the Heat plus I end up with like 10 little fans in the tent

I’ve seen good yields and quality from both.

The benefit of cmh over hps is that your cmh plants can generally handle a bit more heat than under cmh.

If you have a lot of changing climate maybe cmh + led might be a good combo, but you might have to build something for yourself: not a lot of lights out there thwt would fit right.

Had pretty good success with the combo of CMH and led. One thing I'd suggest is to make sure you do any plant tending either before the CMH goes on or right after it goes off. The UV the CMH puts off is serious and shouldn't be taken lightly. Working under the LEDS is fine unless you are using some of the newer variety with UV built in. Last thing is make sure you always wear eye protection, even just for peaking in on the plants. Good luck!

if you choose an LED with high quality, high efficiency diodes like the Samsung 301 series, you want to aim for around 35 watts per square foot of canopy. So a 3x3 gives you 9 square feet. 9x35 gives you 315 watts. once you know what power range you should be in it is just about choosing the form factor of the fixture. Boards and Cobs tend to do well for intensity but tend to have 'hot spots' in terms of coverage, bar/strip style lights tend to do better with even light distribution. hope that helps!

Well shit doing the math then it seems like a 315 what CMH would be and almost identical fit for my tent then it's a little smaller than three by three now it's 32 by 32 but close. I just found a spider farmer se3000 for $290 anybody use it? I am thinking about getting the bar Style
