LED light discussions and experiences

Hey RIU community!
I just wanted to start a new thread discussing the LED lighting that seems to be advancing more and more every year. There are some really nice LED lights out there that have good light spectrums and are compared to HID 600watt or 1000 watt even!
For two years I have been using an LED light that is supposed to be compared to a 600watt HID light. It is a TI Smartlamp pro bloom 600. http://wwwledinnovationdesign.com/sl-presentation-en.html .
This light has really worked for me. It saves me a ton of money on energy and it allows me to bring the light very close to the plants because it generates barely any heat.
Is there anyone out there who shares my experience with LED lights? Anyone who doesn't? Share links to different LED products so we can compare and discuss.
Thanks RIU users! :eyesmoke:

Interesting design... it's almost like they're in hoods like HID. Are the LEDs removable from the hood, or is it all a solid unit?
It is pretty much a solid unit. I am sure I can get it apart with a few screws, but, just not trying that yet. I was reading more on the website and the ti proBloom is an additional add-on to the original light. The original light is 300w and the probloom is 330w. I am guessing it is supposed to be introducing another flowering light spectrum to the original light while still retaining the veg light. Very cool stuff. I do not have a light meter, but this thing is bright as hell. I have to go buy uv glasses to work in my tent.

You can see pics of it in action in my grow journal. https://www.rollitup.org/blogs/537927-canna-connoiseur.html
After yesterdays post , and after adding nutes for the first day, my plants already have new sets of leaves. Not sure if that is good or not

I think this light is working :weed:

whats the cost of that bad boy? How many LEDs/type/wattage/spectrum? Not much info on website...
The tag price at my grow store was $1400. I paid $800 for it because I was also spending like $2000 more on other crap. They told me this is the only LED they have because they think everything else is crap and don't want to sell them. Apparently the dispensary near me pumped out some 23%THC nugs with this bad boy.

23% is pretty serious. Do you know what strain that was?

In my state you have to be dying to get medical card. I heard that info from my hydro store owner. A few of his employees stopped working there to go grow for the dispensary. His ex employees told him that that was the test results since it is required by state that testing be done. In other words, no, I do not know what strain.

23% is pretty high for the entire country, from what I understand. I bet it was a Diesel or derivative. They're always a good bet for max THC.

I just bought a Chinese knock off on EBay. It was priced under $300 in an auction. It fit my space and electric requirement. Results hopefully will be better than my old 250 HPS. I saw a wide range of price when shopping. If I had money I would buy US because I like that but I'm on a budget. It will take a while to get here from China.:leaf:

Hey Smokin Away, I too just bought a cheap china light- 300W. Im only 6 days into veg for a 7 day veg then straight 12/12. Hope our Chinese lights are as effective as the US!

Well, you weren't specific about what "kind" of chinese leds, though I suspect you did not mean household led experiences. Never the less, I think you will find this interesting

I have an active thread, using household globe leds- used to root clones and now veg them. My plan is to see what kind of buds they will produce

Recent pics under ~ 55w

I've just never had much luck with clones. It takes special nutes and equipment. I'm just a lowly pot in the pot grower. I'm hoping to see good results from a 600 watt if you got that from 55 w. It was listed in EBay as a 600 w (200x 3w) LED Pro Grow Veg Flower. No brand name because it's a Chinese knock off. Here's the address: http://www.ebay.com/itm/600W-Led-Grow-Light-Pro-Grow-Lighting-Veg-Flowering-Spectrum-3W-LED-Garden-Light-/380653964276?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58a0be8bf4
$300? Damn. Well done, though I could pick nits:fire:, but for 3 bills? Please. Anyway, in case you are curious here is the spectrums they provide

430~440nm, 450~475nm 620~630nm, 650~660nm, and white. There are white, blue and red leds in the light. We are using Epistar leds to our lights.

Today, most of their spectrums are covered in common household bulbs- probably not as many umols/m^2 but.... how many you need depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

For someone who consumes 1-2 oz of extreme high quality mmj /1-3 months, you can now put a simple system together for less than the price of 2 ozs of HQ mmj:shock:, and learn hopefully have some fun learning a new hobby. Truth be told, mmj is not addictive- growing it is

I would love to see it with 90% of the watts in some combination of cool white (CW), neutral white (NW) and warm white (WW) diodes. To this, but on a separate o/o switch, ~ 10% 660 (depending on the spectral coverage of the WW)+ 3-5% ~ 760-780 nm range, these for flowering

Most of these lights actual wattage is ~ 60% of stated. If true of this you still get 360w, which should cover 3-4 plants, if in a circle, and likely 4+ ozs per plant for a grower with basic skillz, and up to 12 ozs for a green thumb grower. Well Done finding this.

You planning on doing a thread? If not, feel free to drop the occasional pic into mine, say one at ~ 6 weeks, that should tell us a lot, but if you do a thread, you can post as often as you want. I think there are a lot of people here who would love to see it
