LED lighting question!

I was wondering if 4 - 2 ft fluros would be good to run with a 90w ufo led to help with the lack of penetration. Im using a 2.5x2.5x5.11 grow tent. Im new to LED lighting. Any input is appreciated!!

What brand of 90W LED light are you using (it does make a difference)?
The fluros should be fine as long as they don't overpower the LED's spectrum.
Meaning that the LED's purple-ish colored light should be dominant in the grow tent compared to the white light of the fluros.

I was thinking of pick up the htg 90w ufo.

Would those fluros be enough? or too much?

Even though i've never personally used those htg leds, I wouldnt recommend them to anyone. I feel like you get what you pay for in this hobby and those are bottom tier led lights. If you can spend $350 plus on a light, then you're going to be a lot happier with the results.

ya, your prob right... im wanting to give LED a try, but i dont wana go over $300 for lights. do you have any suggestions on LED that i should go with?

I personally use the HTG 120. I used it for almost a year to flower. I also had 216W of CFL in a 3x3 area. It treated me very well for a small personal grow.

I now use the HTG to veg with and I use two GLH spectra 180's to flower with. I dropped all the CFL's and a small HPS i had running. Any help I can give let me know... my thread is in my sig. if you are interested in what I have done with a cheap Chinese panel.

I'm not saying they are great and you should buy it.... I am the first one to say LED is not for everyone... but for the small few like me, we make it work!! LED's cannot grow as good as HPS but if you are looking for low heat, low power consumption and the most resin production there is... then go LED.

If you want huge buds.. and lots of them, then go HPS.

For under $300 the only led I might consider is a blackstar but if you can shell out a little more check out hydroponicshut pro grow series or advancedledlights.com. I use advancedled for my grows and love them. pretty sure they have a 120w ufo for like $350 that should out perform both o those htg lights you were looking at. Personally, I wouldn't recommend anything lower than 120 actual watts and make sure they are all 3w leds. There's a few other brands out there people use I can give you more info on if you want

^^^^^^ that is some good advice!!! they are really good lights!! Blackstars are also great lights for their price, IMO if they worked on the heatsinks and changed to 60 degree diodes, they could be at the top of the market. If you are really interested, just shop around and don't believe all the marketing BS... read the details closely and use good common sense.

i checked out hydroponicshut.com, and they have a 180w 7 band for $320. i was thinking about getting two of the htg ufos, but this is just 20 dollars more for the same wattage, but its 7 band and uses the 3 watt bulbs.

the advancedledlights.com ufo looks legit, but i just cant spend 400 on one light right now.

i plan on using it for 4-6 autoflowers at a time throughout the entire grow. do you think just one 180w panel from hydroponics hut would be enough?

wow now i see these blacstars and theyre pretty cheap for what you get. i found a 240w blackstar for $289. i think i might have found what im gona buy.

be very careful with the advertised wattage and the actual draw wattage. there is not a diode on the face of the earth that can run at 100%. it would burn out in seconds. most quality diodes and drivers run at about 55% or something close to that.... when i company advertises a panel with 120 1W diodes and call it a 120W panel, they are full of shit!!!! there is no way possible!!! the best thing to do is call the manufacturer and ask them what is the actual draw at the cord, and what size and how many diodes the panel uses... with this info you can do some math and tell just how good the drivers are and how efficient it runs, just don't for get to add up the fans and calculate that figure in.

If the company doesn't know this info or doesn't want to release it, then don't buy it from them!!! and never be afraid to ask for a discount or free shipping!!! good companies will always help ya out...

check out a user named Smokey11... he has one and is a stand up great guy to ask questons.

blackstars draw 138 watts at the cord i believe.... please don't quote me on that though...
