Hello
I am hoping for some opinion or advice between these led lights.

Roleadro 400W COB Full Spectrum LED Grow Light
https://www.amazon.com/Roleadro-Spectrum-Light-Switch-Generation/dp/B01I4NY8KW/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

or

VIPARSPECTRA Reflector-Series 450W LED Grow Light

https://www.amazon.com/VIPARSPECTRA-Reflector-Spectrum-Indoor-Plants/dp/B015FLSOCE/ref=sr_1_1?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1501891022&sr=1-1&keywords=viparspectra+450w

I am looking to stay below $500 USD. I am planning to go either 3 x Viparspectra 450 or 4 x Roleandro 400 units. My goal is to be around 600 actual watts for my 2x4 gorilla tent grow.

Any experience or info appreciated.

Holy $hit. That's a lot of wattage. I run four 48 volt COBs at an estimated 200 watts. Forward voltage is 36. Same sized 2x4 tent.

If the Roleardro is a true 400 watts. One would be enough.

From what I've seen LED is never true wattage...

In this case the Viparspectras pull 200W actual and the Roleandro pulls 130w actual.
As a long time HPS user and experimenter of LED I've learned that Actual watts seem to be the only thing that matters... I live in a very hot climate and my 600W DE HPS is running wayyyy too hot.

From previous experience with Area-51 LED at 150W actually and it grew shit. T5 would have been better. I am used to 2L Pepsi bottle colas lol.

Well on a budget here to get started. From what Ive seen most even junk leds yield ok if you match watt for watt with hps...

@NOFX shit man, if you have $500 to light up a 2x4 you can do that with the best LEDs we have at the moment. That will result in some super efficiency and thus you can light it up good with considerably less wattage, meaning considerably less heat.
Even in a cold climate you would struggle to manage a 600w anything in a 2x4ft tent.

Try a 250w quantum board kit. https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/products/250w-xl-qb-led-kit
Or a 300w timer kit vero29 kit. http://timbergrowlights.com/300-watt-vero29-v7-linear-framework/
Or a TasyLed, they might not have the best physical size for your tent though.
Or solskin from cutter.au
Or Build one. which is what most of the LED guys do these days.

Don't get your head stuck on 600w, its the photons that count and that comes down to how efficient the LEDs are.
Do a lot of research, ask around, look in the LED threads for grow journals, check out the Quantum board thread, check out growmau5 on youtube, check out greengenesgarden on youtube. If all that fails to convert you then stick to HPS and invest in AC.

Chinese lights are a total waste of money. There are small companies out there building lights with top quality COBs and components. Even if you started with their most basic light, you'll out grow any Chinese light made. And DIY is really an even better way to go, build and save money. Cobs are great if you buy Citizen, Cree, Samsung, Bridgelux, or Luminous COBs. There are also LED hard striplights, and Horticultural Lighting Group's Quantum Boards, which have replaced almost all of. my lighting. You can do THIS with good lighting, 350 watts at the wall, 4'x4' tent:

And what was so bad about the light?? A COB is a COB I don't care who put the light together. So was it the light or dealing with the owner, I've heard he can be an ass...........

You won't find many LEDs that gonna match the quality of a 600w DE HPS, you might want to look into CMH lights if heat is your main concern.

if you absolutely have to try out led's, I would do something light mixing in a 250/400 watt mh/hps. At the very least....nothing beats hps when it comes to penetration. Then just add some leds as side lighting. I am running 400watt hps along with that 450watt vipar spectra led. Despite being cheap, it made a very noticeable difference in growth speed. Good luck with your grow!

Pop22 the 150W Area-51 vegged great but at bloom it had nothing... Plants looked like they where permanently 4 weeks into bloom.

I felt like I fell for the bullshit marketing that the light could actually flower like a 250 hps. It definitely couldn't.
