look at my journal in my signature, there is 2 grow in there, one in a 3x3 tent and one in a 4x5 room.

My first run in the 3x3 tent I ran 12/12 from seeds (No vegging) with 7 plants and yielded 12 oz with the FERO adjustable then swapped it for the 336x3. I was using about 250watts for the first 40-50days, then 600watts for 20-30 days then 540watts for the last 2 weeks. Not sure of the timeframe (you could see that going through my journal) but they were all Sativas and I have shared my weed with friends and co--workers and they all agreed it's some of the best buds they ever had. Here is a video I made a couple weeks before I started harvesting the indicas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cB5K8HgbBmI

Look at the Agent Orange I am growing 12/12 from seed as well in the most recent post of my journal (grown with the AF-600), she is going to yield big.

i think some are exaggerating how superior HPS is to LED's currently.

i was only able to find one grow log in which someone grew clones of some haze nl5 cross of both the led and hps. he used the 800w solarstorm and a 1000hps. in the end i believe he got just less than 1 oz more from the 1000w hps than he did with the 800w solarstorm. it wasnt a high yield on either (7.1 and 8 oz respectively) since they were sativa dom's which grew very tall. i was just hoping to see more grow logs on this. maybe under more usual circumstances (most dont grow those types of strain indoors!)

either way only 1 oz less from 200 less watts tells me if solarstorm came in a 1000w variety then i'd think it would yield more than the 1000hps.

if i could get a led system to out yield a hps system of equal wattage then i could justify that purchase. an led unit that lasts say 10-15 years saves you $1000 -1500(100 a year on a new bulb. sometimes they are even higher for 1000w bulbs..decent ones anyway)

so really a cheap hps system still runs you that much over time. its just not an upfront cost. so with price in the end being equal and the led using less heat you'd think you cant beat it.

I may still hold out to see how much more improvement gets made over the next year or two. id hate to blow 2K and then 6 months later a system with technology far superior comes out (think how 3w led users feel now that theres a 5w led system!)
Well my photos indicate a very real possibility, but mine is personal use: I don't need to grow a lot. Check out Astir's thread on RIU (*link below). It's a mind blower. There is a huge misnomer that high watt leds are the magic bullet. WRONG

Call them Christmas lights if you wish... I grow 12/12 from seed, no vegging... and it's not like I am an experienced grower, it has been a year...:

What do you think of my Christmas lights? :bigjoint:

will 600w of LED yield the same as 600w hps yet?
A 600W led draws about 300W. So, to make a fair comparison, for the watts consumed, you should be asking if a 1200W LED will yield the same as a 600W HID. Does anyone think that a 1200W LED would under perform a 600W HID? That's not even accounting for the other extra watts an HID needs such as for the ballast, fans to deal with the heat from an HID, etc.

maybe im missing something but wouldnt a 1200w LED use more watts than a 600w hps???

either way that is my question (ie. would an LED out perform an hps of indentical wattage) its hard because not that many do side-by-side grows of the same strain under both the hps and led. for me thats the only thing holding me back. i'd hate to blow $1-2K on LEDs only to yield less or the same as i would with an hps or worse lower quality buds.

When I first made the switch to LED (I had been experimenting with smaller units for a few months) I replaced 2 x 400Watts for 1 x 540watt (actual draw) LED, so considering the power the ballast were using as well, I was using 300watts less than my previous setup and I have been yielding much better. .. now when I had the mh/hps I had less experience as well but in my case the LEDs are outdoing the HPS big time. I have since gotten rid of my 2 400watts and I am using strictly LEDs, not even 1 CFL. I have been VERY satisfied with my buds and they will only get better as I get more experience.

My 360w panel draws 360. i would equate it in terms of what i got from it to a 400hps. They were airy, but it was decent. It just wasnt going to do the job for me... for someone else, sure, but not for what i needed.

I bought a 600hps for around $300, my Led was $1050 before shipping, i could have added another panel and done great. But to me... well...

Just wanted to clear up some things, and my LED is now with my T5 helping me maintain some healthy veg.

Either way, good luck with whatever you decide.

forget about "XXXX" watt leds in the name. look at the actual draw of the fixture, that is the number that really matters. anyone looking at a "black star 600" or whatever and thinking that its a 600 watt fixtures is as bad off as the person who just got his brand new "150 watt cfl" thats really just a 42 watt cfl.

bout to pull the trigger on a 375 apollo 10 fixture I think.
