I haven't been on this board much since i made the switch to LEDs so i thought i'd show some pictures of my current grow. She's Nirvana AK48 and has been flowering for just over 4 weeks in a small SCROG setup. I'm using a 96w Boxer GrowL and four cheap 15w Chinese/ebay led panels.

let me know what y'all think. This is the first time I've tried scrog under LEDs and it seems to be going pretty well.

Hey guys,

Was thinking about building a clone tent. I generally run a 600w MH/HPS for Veg/FLowering in one tent, but was wondering if it would be ok to Veg clones under LEDs and then switch them to the flowering tent afterwards under a MH or HPS light depending on how develped the plants are.

Should i go pure blue for only vegging clones?

Well,

I have been experimenting and done alit of reasearch. I am using 49 3 watt LEDs for my light and have made a custom enclosure.

my ratio of light is:

24x 630nm Red LEDs
6 x 660nm Red LEDs
6 x 465nm Blue LEDs
12 x 450nm Blue LEDs
1 x 405nm UV LEDs

I have attached some pictures of my prototype light minus the LEDs and my light layout to share one possible design.

Attached is a graph of chlorophyll A & B absorption and which wavelengths my light hits.

I just talked to the folks at Gotham Hydro about their new "Darkstar" series LED grow lights from Lighthouse Hydroponics (http://stores.ebay.com/gothamhydroponics). The big news is they are now using 2w LEDs instead of 1w LEDs. Gotham has tested the new model and have found it to have the highest lux of any Lighthouse light so far which should improve penetration.

By a stroke of luck, and because I've experimented with their 2009 and 2010 90w models, they are letting me buy the 1st one for testing (the product is not even on their ebay site yet). I will keep everyone posted on my experiences with the new light.

BTW, in comparing the 2009 and 2010 90w models, Gotham said it was sort of a choice between having a two week earlier harvest with the 2009 model vs. having a more resinous result with the 2010 model. You pick. Since I'm NOT commercial, I'll go for the latter.

I have the light and love it! I think it is the best one for its price class. It's backed by a company in the US you can talk to and get advice too! -Thaiboy

I'm trying out a 450w panel and 2x90w LEDs in my current 1030w grow.

I know the 90w UFOs work great when paired with HPS, I had 4x90w UFOS and a 400w HPS my last grow (760w) and I pulled roughly 1lb dry.

But, I've never seen what the big panels can do first hand, I'll keep you posted as I finish up.

Thanks for posting about this Thaiboy! :) I've played around with the 2010 model and it's really nice. How many watts is the new light???
Just got the new light running and it is beautiful! Correction -- the name of the light is not "DarkStar" it is "BlackStar".

I can't give you any real specs because the light I just got was a prototype, or production 1st run. Anyway, it came with zero documentation and the voltage sticker on the back did not even rate how many amps the light draws. I plan to use my watt meter to measure the lights power requirements soon but Gotham told me it draws at least 300w. I starred at the light, with sunglasses, and was still a bit blinded by it. :) The LEDs seems much brighter that the 2010 model LEDs.

I started my plants with a 90w 2009 model and a 90w 2010 model. With the arrival of the new light, I've switched to using the 90w 2010 model for a mother plants (24/0) and the 2009 model plus the new BlackStar 2011 model light for flowering (12/12). I'm flowering in a DR80 grow tent that is only 3'x3'. I know I'm using a lot more LED light than I need for the grow area, but I'm trying to produce the best possible quality (% THC), not quantity (g/watt/hr).

I plan to do a daily time lapse series of photos to show how my Thai plants develop under the new Lighthouse Hydro light from Gotham. I have grown the same strain from clones for the last 15 years so I have I good idea of how the plants develop under traditional HID. I'm curious to see how well they do with the suburb LED grow lights from Lighthouse Hydro / Gotham Hydro.

just starting my first grow with a 125w UFO, will keep you posted on results. in theory led's offer a lot of advantages and i am sure everyone can use lower power bills and less heat so i thought it was worth a try. if i am not pleased i will add cfl's to supplement during the budding.

I just measured the power consumption of the LightHouse BlackStar prototype model and it consumed 280w -- which is great for me and my small space! I'm also using a LightHouse 2009 90w model, which consumes 78w, so in total I'm running 358w in a DR80 grow tent. :) -ThaiBoy

Wow man, that sounds pretty sweet!!! I'm excited to see how this all turns out. The new light sounds really cool!!! I love led's because there is no heat!! It's just less of a hassle. I can't wait to see the pics that you post! From what it sounds like, I'm pretty sure you're going to get top quality!

Well, Since this whole thread/Sub community is all about Leds... Anyone know the cheapest led I could get for under 100 bucks? I am planning to use it in my veg box along with three other cfls. Sooo any suggestions?

Under $100 for a good one, not really easy to come by. Probably around $130 for a quality LED fixture (90w UFO). I've got 4 in my veg tent, the plants are LOVING it!

Check ebay, but don't buy a shitty low wattage panel; 90w minimum, in my opinion.

mmm.. good to see. I saw another post, LED vs HPS. LEDs had much more crystal.

My girls are going well, day 22 now. I had a light issue today, I had to rewire the 450nm blues.

I will begin flowering on thursday. 12/12 with no mod to the lights. I will leave all spectrums switched on throughout flowering. Although any suggestions on my link would be appreciated. i'm just going more lumens. :\ next round i'll experiment.

I'm ordering a set of LED Grow lamps now 2, 300mm x 300mm x 38mm only 55w mind you but I have a rather small grow space so suits me fine (plus i got a couple fluorescents too) and £100 for both, is also about £50 cheaper than buying a HPS or MH lamp, I've also found that they build specific LED Blooming lights in all the right spectrums of red. but thats when the prices go up a fair bit.

I'll see about the results in a couple of months :)

well my ladies are up and growing, went 5 for 5 in germination. one problem i am kind of disappointed to run into is that the temp in my grow chamber is running 8-10 degrees above the room temperature with LEDs running alone. i have one intake and one exhaust fan but guess i will be adding a second exhaust fan once i verify the readings my thermometer is giving me.

This is my first grow. I was given a bunch of Jack Herrer babies.
One is in a hydroponic drip bucket, under a 90w UFO, the others in soil, under a 4 foot, 4 bulb T5, grow spectrum. I've had them for 4 weeks. They are all approximately 1 foot high. They all receive General Hydroponic Newts as per package instructions for general growth.
The others look good, but the one under the LED/Hydroponics looks phenomenal. The stalk is 3 times the diameter of the T5/soil plants and five times the leaf growth, with sets containing 7 and 9 leaves. At this point I don't know if it's the hydro or the lights, but will report back when I can pick up another drip bucket. Will try and post a pic later in the week.

After seeing her, a friend who pooh-poohed LED's, all of a sudden became interested.
