I'd recommend staying away from the Hydroponics Hut Pro Grow LED's.The way I made it to this thread is a long and winding road. I'm into LED lights for backpacking, so when I was researching potential grow lights, I just decided to google "LED Grow Lights" which brought up an article about LED lights breaking a record for a single plant yield. This brought me to HydroGrowLED. Research on the company led (pun intended) me to find a mention of Hydroponics Hut, and I'm really digging their design, options, and brand spiel, but I'm having a hard time finding much recent mention of their products. The last mention in this thread seems to be around the End of August, 2012.
I was set on going with a PG 260x, but am weary since I cannot find much first hand experience besides the medical 420 grow that is linked to on Hydroponics Hut's website.
So I wanted to ask the experts, here. What are my options for the following planned grow?:
- 4x4x6.5' Grow Tent
- Soil Based Grow
- Up to 6 plants
My price range is right around $600 which is why I began to lean towards the Pro Grow over the HydroGrowLED. Now, I'm discovering a bunch of other companies in this thread: Blackstar, California Light Works, Black Dog, Area 51, etc. With 500+ pages, it seems a bit daunting. Any advice is appreciated greatly.
She flaked out, the engagement is off, and our relationship is over.Hey Bad Karma what's up? How's the life of love treating you? Hope you are well!
Shame...better now than later though..........trust me I know how it feels. Well at least their is plenty of hot girls in Cali, I don't have much to work with in philly/ NOT kidding. She flaked out, the engagement is off, and our relationship is over.
I seemed to have forgotten that I can only fall for whores with the "crazy in the eyes" look.
Silly me, maybe I'll remember this post before I fall in love again.
Regardless, good memory FranJan, because it's been a while.
Otherwise, I'm doing okay, thank you for asking.
Thanks for the reply. Very Much appreciated. Could you comment on which Pro Grow you purchased that you were underwhelmed with? Which LEDs that you own was it compared with? (Or, if you've already commented on this previously, a link to that post would be fine).I'd recommend staying away from the Hydroponics Hut Pro Grow LED's.
I purchased one in the past and was totally underwhelmed with how dim it was compared to other LED's that I already owned.
Trying to properly cover a 4x4 grow space with LED's for only $600 is a tough task.
If you can save up another $250 towards your LED purchase, this would be a nice fit for your tent, the A51-240:

I have an Area 51 LED light and it's been very good to me.
Good luck in your quest
If you can't afford the initial start-up cost I'd suggest HID (if you can't/aren't willing to DIY). Cheap and effective (for the short-term). I'd also recommend buying from Cidly/China, it can be cheaper (sometimes even including shipping). A 4x4 at $600? A stretch, albeit not a large one, but it's just my humble opinion. Thanks for the reply. Very Much appreciated. Could you comment on which Pro Grow you purchased that you were underwhelmed with? I did read about Area 51 here on the forums. They do seem to have great reviews. I would have to do some insane acrobotics with the check book to get the one that you recommend (which does seem to be bitchin'). My budget is not very flexible. I could save towards that light, but it may be a few more months, and I figured I could start out small and work my way up by adding lights in the future.
Is the consensus that $600 in an LED light is not adequate for a 4x4 space? If so, could someone point me towards a summary or guide to what spaces a light of this price/power would be ideal for?
Thanks again!
It's the poor heatsink surface that worries me about that Rhino ... other than that, I'd recommend it!I use a RhinoGrow 400 and im pretty sure you could grab one for $550-$600 if you called there sales line. It's a 170watt unit but it will cover a 4x4 for veg and a 3x3 for flowering. Check out the website RhinoGrow.com
Give these LED people their own area already.
'A'ole. With great shame, I can't speak my native language very well at all.HiloReign, you live in Hilo? 'Olelo Hawaii, 'oe? In any case, I appreciate your thoughtful response. I'm a little more confident about my budget now, especially with my space being a bit more limited, esp. in regards to your comment about it being "not a large stretch" (paraphrased) for a 4x4 area.
Do any of you echo BadKarma's advice regarding Pro-Grow? My focus is shifting away from them, in favor of researching more of the lights recommended here.
Thanks!
