been using supersoil for a year now(thx YouTube)...after adjusting a heating prob...temp now 72.8,,constant(previously...74/75)......pots are 1.75 gal...too small?....had 600w LED for flower..swapped it to pair of 300w....better coverage....p.h at 6.0.....using karma,floronova(4-8-7 bloom...7-4-10 veg...,cal,mag.....Liquid coolbloom enhancer...0-10-10....KoolBloom ripening formula(last 2 weeks)...2-45-28....ALL at recommended dosages.....in theory...this should be dropping 1/2 lbs a harvest...in reality,dont even ask...my veg looks great,then it does a frickin nosedive all the way thru flower,my biggest budz,are half the size of a golfball...god dam depressing
K some things you said don't make sense.

You said you're using super soil, but then listed a bunch of nutes. Which is it? If you're using those nutes with you're super soil, that's why your yields are shitty. Inorganic nutes are gonna screw your organic super soil and plants all up.

Also why pHing to 6? If you're in super soil, you're in soil... so you should be 6.5-6.8.

1.75g is small for flower but you should still be doing better than you are. How big are they when they go into flower?

Flower time here we come!

Some people read everything they get their hands on and skim.
Also sometimes it is sensory overload and you try to do everything at the same time.
Homey just needs to plop em in the SS and relax.

I understand the temptation to use nutes... i still do in veg but only 0.5-0.5-0.5 so not really anything that's gonna be an issue :)

But if it's super soil you're dependent on the colony to feed the plant and then you give it inorganic nutes you're gonna screw the colony... if you are gonna give nutes in super soil they need to be organic. But yeah, it really only needs water. Every time I add anything more than organic 1-1-1 it just screws things up.

I see the allure to growing in super soil, and your plants look tremendous Reef, but I think I'll stick with the way some of the CO RIU growers taught me. It's unconventional, but yields well and gives you buds with a lot of aroma and taste.... and its simple. Basically, I grow in soil (layered ocean forest and happy frog) and I use compost teas with various guanos all the way through the grow, but in flower, I start with every other feeding being Dyna-gro... so it's a constant battle of the salts killing the beasties and the tea bring them back.... works for me.

Hey guys, I am now considered an LED user, ALMOST!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!! Just paid for the 4 Sg160s this morning, expecting first two on Saturday, or Monday. The next two by Friday. Im going in Some inert soil I got at the store. Im curious what you guys know about adjusting ph for soil grows, im semi organic as I will be adding a botanicare silica booster along with the roots organics line/ Humboldt nutrients version of great white. They even game me a little great white as a promotion! pretty sweet, gonna try it on the next water. As well as hygrozyme that I picked up today. Really good things I have heard about the Hygro, so hopefully my experience will be likewise. But back to the main question, Should I be adding Ph up and Down to my water to try and zero it in on 6 ph, is that necessary, should I be doing this to the soil with an amendment? Someone pls tell me!!! I hope I haven't been hurting the plants with the adjusted water and non adjusted soil.....

Using a backstair 240 in a 6x3 tent with good results most peopl say put light right above plants I like about 6-8 inch above top love the low heat seen just as good as a HPS of equal wattage

If they're 4 very small single cola plants maybe. Normal size most you can get away with under a 240w is one or two. Blackstar 240s work best in multiples :)

I think ive spotted an otter pop wrapper on the floor! Grow room complete! Great looking plants man! Im new here so I got questions-a-plenty right now... first things first, how does one sub to a grow journal? Do i just say I'm subbed and keep up and comment and ask relevant questions, or is there a SUB THIS JOURNAL button that i can click...?... I cant find this damn button ANYWHERE!

Look at the top of thread and you will see a blue bar going across...you will see "Thread Tools"....click on that and "Subscribe to Thread"

I had the same problem when I joined....couldn't find the freaking tool tab ...don't worry you aren't the first and won't be the last..LOL

Two Drivers vs one? I have 18 Cree XT-E whites I want to drive. If I figure the typical 3.0v and 700ma per chip, it is ~38w. I can get a Philips 39w driver that runs at 700ma max, is dimmable (not really needed), and 56v max. That is right at maximum. Should I go for such a solution, or split them in two with say two Mean Well LPC 35-700 (9-48v, 700ma, 35w) drivers? Cost is actually slightly cheaper, but this also means that my entire 60 pc panel will end up with 6 drivers: 2 dimmables for reds, 4 for whites.

Fyi, I wanted to go with 4, 1 for each bank (2) of whites and 1 for each reds (2), because I wanted to section off each side at 30 pieces.

On another item, if I run my drivers remote to further reduce flower tent heat build-up, do I need a thicker gauge wire from driver to first LED? It would be roughly 4-6 ft from drivers to panel.

Thanks!

Don't bother with this one, going to use 18-20 awg from drivers to LED string.

HPS vs LED. Clone v Clone.

Although what you are about to see is a work of fiction, it should never the less be played at maximum volume.

Wow people have told me that My SGS 160's were fairly cool compared to some others, Like the at120, and solar flare, but this thing still puts out some heat, been running Two in a 4x6x8.5 with no door enclosure and the exterior wall is only closed from the ground to about 5 ft.( its an Open structure) and if i don't have my Central air set to like 77, it will get hot in there, so far if i dont turn the air on the area gets up to 85 in about 2 hours with a little cooled fresh air from outside(fan pulls cool air from under house)and a fan pushing air around inside the inclosure. I was hoping the fans would be enough clouting my SUPER COOL LED ENERGY TECH, but its not, it gets hot, so don't think that it wont! Im really hoping the next two come in today, wont throw them on til flower, but would still be lovely to have all of them and see them hanging!!! :bigjoint: I dont know what im going to do to cool that area down with twice the lights in such a small space. Ohh one cool thing, My little DIY grow enclosure... Its exterior wall is movable, attached now, but designed to move with one screw removed! well i was stoked about it atleast... Hahahaha, However content I am with the grow area as is, I may yet need to improvise a bit when it comes time to fire up all 4. My ac is currently acting up, if any one in here knows some magic to fix it id be very appreciative! It will run fine, then when it flips back on, the blade stalls and it makes this low whining sound, at which point i then shut it off. I have been lucky keeping the temps under 85 so far, but may not be so lucky if it goes down for a whole day... any advice is appreciated!

I don't have a good camera... my phone functions better as a hammer than a camera, and I don't want to spend actual money on one so Here we are.... Wish I could take pics of the lights up and the plants and all the rest but its simply not the case... Maybe I'll use my Old ladies camera, that will be a covert operation. (Her: "hey babe have you seen my camera" Me: You have a camera?) just said camera to myself like 12 times and  Ohh shit that thing where you say a word too many times and it starts to lose meaning....... semantic satiation! thats it! Thats what just happened to camera right here right now. Purple hindu is incredible.... IMHO

I'm surprised about your heat issues with the SGS. Everyone else who is running them seem to be ok. Dj has one in a really small space, and Dawg has 2 side by side in a tent. I'm sure you've seen those already but they are good examples.

And who ever told you that AT120's run hot or hotter doesn't know anything. There are only 3 people on the 5 different sites I belong that actually run Apache and never a heat issue. The AT120 pulls air across the whole sink, down the fin channels then out, so that the whole housing gets the air evacuated. Not from the top(a lot do this), which isn't as good at getting the whole inside cool IMO. But works fine usually so your situation is interesting.

In every grow room or setup I have ever had...an exhaust fan pulling out creating negative pressure and then fresh air passively being pulled in has always kept pretty perfect temps and even handle the extreme days/weeks really well. Not only does it cool everything but also gives you good air exchange.
I think when people(not you specifically) see they don't need a fan to keep the unit or the canopy cooler than it is from the light...they forget that no matter what you still need to refresh/exchange the air...which still needs a fan. But good inline fans kill two birds with one stone for the hps, so the exchange part is kinda forgotten. This is why CO2 and led's could really work well together, then you truly don't need fans.

But one thing I have learned is, that a slightly higher average room temp is ok because the canopy and the whole room are pretty much even temp. As where traditionally with hps, the top canopy would experiencing 85+ while the rest of the room guys were struggling to keep cooler to not over heat the hotter canopy under the lights.

I used to only use a 6in booster for (2)600hps in a 6x6 tent that was in an uninsulated tin shed in my old backyard and it was fine. Just a little air exchange goes a long way.

I Just Had My AC Unit Repaired And It Was Doing The Same As Yours. My Problem Was The Fan Motors Low Side Wasnt Kicking It On Properly. The Quick Fix Is Switch Your Theromastat To On This Will Keep The Fan On And Your AC Will Work Like It Should Untill You Can Get Your Fan Motor Switched Out.

Yeah I wish i had some money for at 120s or whatever they're next light's gonna be. Yeah i have two hanging right now, and its really just issues with the environment being nearly 100 % humid and getting up in the 90's outside. Once the Ac was shot it was me carrying frozen buckets of water and ice trays and setting particular fans in the buckets and the ice trays on top of the fan, it kept it under 85 all day but just barely, I shoudl be fine now as i just got a pretty cool little portable ACU.

Yeah mine is dead to the world now, I tried that a few times and the opposite, and both would work when it had shut off, but it would only do it again. Somethings busted now i think... It doesnt even make noise when i flip the ac switch to on. I checked the breakers and those were fine, reset them anyways.. still nothing, and landlord is slow to get someone here, So i go to walmart and buy a 5000 btu ac unit. Kinda worth it IMO. Im thinking about enclosing the grow area on the front and top just cutting a section out and slapping the ac in the side. It will likely be something like 4x6 or 3x6 depending on how big these girls get so i know its prob overkill for the portable ACU but i can set it to a temp and it seems to hold it fine and accurately so it would be climate controlled so to speak. i also have other meters, measuring temp and humidity, trying to get my humidity down to like 50%-70% it stays in the mid to upper 80s normally, and with a little over-watering on top of that, I just dont think the plants want all the moisture, and im betting my smartpots will dry quicker with less humid air, Fucking south sucks.... cant wait to be back In CO... or Explore CA or Washington. Humidifier=30$ Dehumidifier=230$ Thats lame.... :( my ac unit was in between at 130 and has a dehumidify setting, Infact i need to go check on how its working, was going like a champ.
