Well i wanna say its actually probably 3x5 more or less but yeah. So that should be sufficient you think ? i got great genetics from DNA Genetics Kandy Kush and Sleestack ... im growing 10 plants in 2 gallon grow bags. So I guess im gonna go with the flowering model because I have the plants under the 300w chinese led panel right now and there growing really great and fast under it....
my thought on my own similar grow is to place 2 240w flower series led's as i found that the veg is great with them as well. i think in my 4x4 area im placing 6 ladies in 3 gal grow bags with another 4-5 up front in 2 gal with autoflowers in them to reap much earlier than my main ladies then i can spread the remaining ones out once i get things up to speed on my autos. i might even start the autos 2 weeks early just to stagger everything out well. i will suppliment with cfl's until i reach a temp of 80-82 then at the end of cycle i will place my 100w blackstar under the canopy towards the lower buds directly for plumpening..... just seeing what you guys think. oh btw greners just emailed me 2 min ago saying everything shipped today but my fan....... that wont leave the warehouse until tuesday at the earliest so they are sending a "free gift" with it. I wrote back a thank you for the update and asked for overnight shipping as well since they said on the site everything was in stock when over half really wasnt. i like the site but there inventory management isnt the greatest. but honestly if that is the worst of it then its still a great company to work with. they seem SUPER busy to be honest.

This is what happens when you combine both LED and HID (just harvested 4 NYPD yesterday):
You get buds this good:
With this much yield, again for 4 plants, dead on 3 months from germ (both pics combined = total):

That was 1000Whps and a 240 blackstar right? How big were the plants when you flipped them? Can't wait for the weigh in :-) Are you kinda keeping track of the ones under the LED vs the HPS? I know there was lots of cross lighting and that was the whole point but still would be interesting to see if the ones that had the LED light dominant are on par.

1000W HPS and 500W Blackstar
Now that I have a room opened up, the flower room will be the 1000W HPS, 240W LED on the right, 500W LED on the left.

IMHO 2 blackstar 240 watt panels would will be stretching it thin for a full 3 x 6 grow. Perfect for a 4x3'. You could always supplement with some CFLs placed in relatively dim areas to compensate if you pack the grow area. Regardless you will get a good crop if the plants are healthy and the genetics are top notch. If you have T5s presently you may want to stick with the flowering model of the blackstars. My approach is definitely experimental in the flower phase.
So a Blackstar 240 is good for about a 2 by 3 coverage area? Got any guess how tall a plant it would penetrate in that sort of coverage area? How high above the canopy does it hang to cover that? Any idea what the lens angle is on those?

Hope u don't mind all the questions.....still very much in compare mode to figure out how the panels I have are performing. I figure I'm getting good penetration on a 3x4 area with each light at about 15" above the canopy and got 60 degree lens angles so should penetrate tall plants. They are about 20" tall right now and got plenty of penetration but only 18 days in so not sure how much more they're gonna run. Wheres my crystal ball.........

4x6 (its just the old flower room with the 240W added on to the mix, It has been occupied by the NYPD until yesterday. Tonight I move in a 5 Jock Horrors, and 5 Wonder Woman that have been sitting under my MH in my veg room) They have been flowering for a month. That frees up my veg room for my Snow whites which are chilling in veg under the 240W blackstar *not in a room, just on the floor

2x3 at about a foot above the canopy give or take a little on the side. The 500W does about 3x4. Again, in flower, it all depends on how the plants look.

4x3 is way too much space for a 240w blackstar to cover its 6sqft max man 2x3, those leaves remind me of the ones on my wonder woman that im sexing in my box right now under cfl lol MASSIVE leaves hahaha

I am anything but an expert with LEDs, learning as I go. The Blackstar Vegg LEDs are incredible for vegg, no doubt. They should also be great for flower but only give about 50% of the red spectra the flower specific panels do. For the best flowers supplentary red light is needed. Originally I thought a 300W red Chinese panel I have used in 1 other grow would be sufficient. Now I am not so sure due to the size of area i will be covering because the plants are bigger than anticipated. So I am adding 2 kessil Magenta lights. That is the flower specific model for kessil and should carry about a quarter of my grow area. The remainder will hopefully get ample enough light for a great flower cycle with the existing panels which have are rated a combined 780W. The use of the vegg panels in flower would be questioned by many but the more balanced spectra including UV and blue is supposed to help produce denser more potent buds. Only time will tell.

what about on an autoflowering plant ? they had good reviews on ebay so i got one but dont really know anyone who has used them plus its in a very confined space ?

Yeah, looks like spam.
Not spamming, just the first time i needed to post something :P I can link to their other pages too to show you but I thought it was a little odd that the 357 has a brand new website all its own when they had a perfectly good website up already. But they are definitely the same company that makes the 357 mag led, so I'm really hoping for some input from dunit in particular since he had a lot of info about them, and I wanna save some $ if the ufo uses comparable LEDs to the 357.

my seelding is about an inch tall its an easy ryder under the 15 watt grow panel ill just see how this grow go's then decide what other lights to get ? do you think the yeild will be any good ? thanks for your knowledge on lights ;)

@yuckyganjaman If it has 200 LEDs for a total of 15W that would suggest that the individual LEDs are very weak. It should be good for seedlings but should aim for higher power for veg/flower.

@KK Are you suggesting blackstar to me or yucky or both? :) Are they as good as the 357? I thought I saw something about poor heatsink design?
