Im kinda leaning towards the kessil since it seems to be a more reputable company although its still kinda unbelievable....Hydrofarm stocks these lights so im sure they work.
There is so much up in the air with lighthouse hydro............I would love to see some nice flowering pics

Hydrofarm has high prices. Greners and EZhydro have better deals.

I agree with Grumpy get a purple for all around growing or a magenta for flowering. Also Viagro is right greners seems to have some the best deals. I use 2 magenta kessil and 2 blue kessil LEDS and have no problems everything looking good. Of course I have HPS and Flouros tho aswell but the LED seem to really help the veg room and provide great supplemental lighting in the dark areas of my 8x8 flowering tent. Take a look at my journal see for yourself. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/384835-swiftgrow-journal.html

Best of Luck

Smokefrogg- Very interesting story. Sounds like Cammie just says what she's told. Hydro Grow lights look good to me, but I'd like to see them against Kessil in a fair fight. Might be something to see. I don't think Kessil will be sharing their tech with other companies, they are out to conquer the LED world. They've got a tiger by the tail, and they know it.

That said, I wouldn't mind test driving one of those ProwGrow panels. Or Cammie, for that matter. LOL
word on the street is that she's a man, man

...totally agree about kessil though, they're tech seems to be the most cutting edge, they have some new product coming in spring 2011 that they're website is talking about, man i'm so curious what it is going to be, i kind of want to hold off on getting a 150w magenta until they announce their new "spectral halo" - http://www.kessil.com/products/halo_led_grow_light.php

Took delivery of the newest version of the Blackstar 240 W panel. 2 of them actually. Incredibly bright. Have all 3W Cree LEDs. This version is meant for both veg and flower. Has White LEDs . Need to review the specs for exact wavelengths. Not on any websites yet. Just blown away by how much brighter they are than a 300w Chinese panel even considering different spectra. Think I may have found a perfect light for my needs. My plants will be the judge. LOL
long ranger i have the same light i have the 2011 version it is for FLOWERING it says it on their website also viagro and i have been discussing how they throw plants into flower early. They are excellent panels i LOVE mine but its mainly for flowering and im not sure about them having white LED's in the 2011 models I have to check what spectrums they claim again. Yes they are way bright you should enjoy those two panels greatly nice to see someone else using the blackstar they kick ass but i think kessil may be the way to go i just think that over a large area the kessil lights will cost more than the blackstar's although they make up for it by only cosuming 33watts a piece lol

I saw you said you "picked" it up. Does the Lighthouse Blackstar have an actual physical store?
Basically, I want to know where you bought it. I can't find their official website. And the only place that sells them is the EBAY.

Edit: I think I found it:
http://www.gothamhydroponics.com/grow-lights/gotham-hydro-led-grow-lights/blackstar-240w-led-grow-light-3w-cree.html

And I've never seen a "dutch" reflector before, thought it looked crazy:

I see.
I google maps'd them. Looks like they are located in NY. Pretty neat.
I love their black LED casings.
And I just got done watching some of their videos. Again, Pretty neat. I like them.

Edit:
Do you guys know if this: http://thelighthouse.bz/dealers.htm
is the lighthouse company partnered with, to make the lighthouse blackstars?

I'd wager the Red would outperform either the Purple or the Magenta, once budding begins.
so would i, although it would definately cause a lot of stretch in veg and in the first few weeks of flower during the initial stretch then. After that i would say that it would outperform the magneta or purple any day. I dont even own one and that is just from using my brain ;)

No idea and yea i like my blackstar a lot i think i am going to pair it up with kessil h150's that way i dont have to buy so many kessils to get the same footprint. Saves me about 250 bucks or something like that per flowering room the way i am thinking of doing it next time.

The red has to be amazing during flowering. The blue can be supplemented or the red is a great supplement. However using the red with a little supplemental blue is mad crazy. Still, I'd love to throw a red kessil in between the lights of my current op.

it's cool. I'm sure someone will come across their site sooner or later. Looks kinda like the same logo. But yeah, pairing a kessil up with a blackstart is perfect. Just remembered some crazy thing called the UFO satellite. Thought it would be sick if you had a UFO surrounded by Kessils.

180w Blackstar UFO with 8 Kessils around it!
2 of each color Kessil and you have the craziest LED Fixture in the world. I wish someone had all of those and had the down time to put them together for just a moment to take a picture. I wish more to own that setup myself, but it would be many christmas' before that happened.

Hey ive got a question for all of you led users. Why do leds often produce white tips on buds? Is this white bud still good? Ive been looking into using a light from hydrogrowled but the white buds are very common in the pictures and videos that i have viewed.

Most common misconception with the ice cold LED, is to put it as close to the plant as possible. Doesn't work like that. The only light that the LED(made for growing) emits, is in the photosynthetic range. Putting it too close f's the s's.

Maybe someone can explain that better or maybe i'm wrong here in identifying your concern.

Sorry for the delay. Took me a while to get the specs on my 2 new blackstar panels, 240 volt with 80 3w leds.

5,000k white 10pcs 60 degreees and 30 pcs 120 degrees
12,000k white 2 pcs 60 deg and 5 pcs 120 deg
630nm 6 pcs 60 deg and 22 pcs 120 deg
660nm 1 pc 60 deg and 2 pcs 120 deg
380nm 1 pc 60 deg
730nm 1 pc 60 deg

This should provide all I need for veg and most for flower. Apparently the white LEDs produce more usable blue than the same wattage blue LEDs. Will supplement with a 300 W 7:1:1 panel with mostly red during flower.

I don't get the 12000k? That's wayyy outside of useful.

???

These lights often induce early flowering. You should be fine, just keep us posted...ok?

I think the 12,000k and 730nm and 380nm pieces could be better utilized in the less extreme red and blue. Plus the 120 degree beam angle seems too broad. I'll be curious to hear how this light performs for you. KaptKron is getting good results...

Obviously I am curious too. LOL.

Apparently the Cree 12000 K. produces more usable light in the blue spectrum than the pure blue diodes. That is the rational for using them. According to Victor at Gotham he has several growers that get better results with this panel, even in flower, than the standard 240 watt panel with 3w Cree diodes available for the last year or so. The main attraction for me is that they will should be incredible for vegging.

If I were ordering the light to my own specs I would omit the 730 and want some of the 12000K diodes replaced by 660s or 3000k. I am only illuminating a 4x4 tray so combining two of these panels and a 300W mainly red LED should provide plenty of PAR for flower. Last grow I combined the 300W panel with 400w of t5s. Got excellent quality and about .5 grams per watt. Better than I expected as the whole grow was plagued by high temps and spider mites.

Considered the great Kessils but decided that for now this gave the best bang for the buck. Will post my experiences. Have 33 seedlings to go into the tent this weekend.
