Welcome back kush, good luck on your new adventure! But come on man, telling us we're posting mostly crap and then tell us we should all get along? Not cool, some of us here, we're trying our best to put out good information, ya know?

Can't put out good information when the information isn't all that good in tha first place yo.

In da meantime, homeboy from egl just busted out with a new commercial crop system using even LESS power per square meter.

Is anyone else even trying to actually advance the field like him? I don't think so, it looks like everyone else is just reselling Chinese stuff instead of truly making their own.

did anyone catch the bit on 50$ "international" shipping to canada? anyone ordered from growledhydro and have it sent to canada? did you get the same 50$ charge? seems a little high considering most companies deliver to us and canada for the same rate or at least usually its not 50$ from cali to bc haha but i dunno never ordered something like this before from the states. can someone offer me some peace of mind?

Yeah that's the one, the mystery light was the new 200w diamond series. Check it out as he reported final numbers. I guess if anyone calls up advanced and mentions that journal they can get the new lights early at discounted prices too regardless of being a previous customer or not. Also look for a 720w grow by surfinstoned some chick rocking 2 360s. Both impressive journals

Puff, catch the couple shots from the 360s ?

sorry puff...dont take my posts too serious im usaully a bit sarcastic.....im just waiting on the led users to unite.....thats all
and when i say crap im only referring to repeat questions, repeat answers, spammers, scammers, and led bashers

but with that being said i have noticed that the leaves on the plants stand up a whole hell of a lot more on led only as opposed to cmh only......250watt of led power vs. 400watt of hid

Yo curly I caught it I just don't know the answer lol. It seems reasonable though for international shipping. Either way its gone now man might as well not worry about it.

If you know what the shipping weight is, you can check the website of whichever carrier Mike used, and see how much the shipping actually was. $50 seems a little much, but international shipping can be a little high sometimes...

Sweet! Which kessil are you getting and how many, the new halo by any chance? Can't wait to hear your impressions and see some pics! Please keep us updated!
Yeah, I'm getting the halo in magenta!
It's actually for a plant that I've been growing a couple of weeks, specifically this lone seed i found in my stash. Was playing it cheap through veg with cfls to see how I would do, and since I haven't run into any problems I'm gonna see what this led can do now that it's time for flower...
This was the only company that I could find that wasn't surrounded by drama, the drawback (which i fully accept) is that it's expensive and haven't seen too many completed grows with it either...
You have a kessil, puffenuff?

sweet thanks beasto ya i thought about it and ya weight and shit is a factor i doubt mike would try to make money on that end of the transaction he seems like one of the good guys.

Yeah, he doesn't seem to be the type to profit on shipping. I have emailed with him a little, he seems pretty honest.

I'm guessing the shipping weight will be close to 15-20 LBS, and if he used USPS, it would have cost him closer to $65 for shipping to Canada. Not sure on UPS or FedEx, I think they might actually be more.

You could try to get in contact with Eraserhead, he ships stuff all the time, he would know how much it actually cost...

EVERY company makes money on that shipping charge. At MINIMUM $5.

Don't fool yourself. That's how the shippers work.

I used to work for UPS.

I've just ordered one of the new Penetrator x-lens LED's (the 126W) and will be starting my first grow just as soon as I build my cupboard :)
Before I start my journal, is there anything people would like me to record over and above the usual stuff? (specifically to do with LED's that is).

It'll be a soil based ScrOG using Kali Mist...just in time for Christmas I hope!

I got two suggestions for your design. If you're using LED drivers, or a UPS converter box, please dont attach that to the actual LED panel. They are heavy enough. Instead do an external ballast configuration design. Similar to XBOX, PS3 designs where you have a plug that goes into the wall then and connect UPS/LED DRIVER to outlet, then have another plug that does from your LED panel to this powerbox. Would made panel less cumbersome. Also don't use PC fans, instead just let heat sink come in contact to the ambient air and cool off that way. The less moving parts the better. Hope this helps...

LED grow tech still has a long way to go but my ideal unit would use only 5w diodes, and be no less than 500w's and LEDS would be mounted on thin etched glass using metal paint as wires/solder, then attached to a bad ass copper heat sink using silver thermal glue.

Yeah what he said and don't charge 1000 bucks for a 500 watt. Make sure you use plenty of red spectrum to I can use some damn cfls for veg if I have to but we need flower power man.

Hi all

I've been following this thread for a little while now, nice to find so many other LED enthusiasts out there.

I have been an LED grower/enthusiast for a few years now. I have bought a few lights from some of the LED grow light companies mentioned, but I have never been that happy with the results considering some of the prices I have paid...

I have been building my own grow lights for the past 2 years and have had some great results.

I have made a couple of "breakthroughs" in regards to spectrum/light intensity etc.

I am now in the process of designing my own type of LED grow light, which will be on the market in January 2012.

I have been designing my light to the following criteria:

-High-Performance in terms of PAR
-Practical
-Optimal spectrum for plant growth (in terms of light used by cannabis, not all green leaved plants like many other grow light companies, the data that alot of them use, is quite old and holds no real bearing to cannabis's preferred spectrum)

And finally affordability (something I have really been working on. Some of the prices I have seen advertised for other grow lights are absurd)

My question to you guys is this....

What do you most want to see in an led grow light, what are the biggest factors that come into play for you, when deciding what grow light you choose?

If this post has no place in this thread, then by all means do not reply or delete if necessary.

I am an honest grower who has a major interest in growing with LED's. I want to build a decent light that hopefully will become popular through how it performs...without using some of the misleading marketing hype that I have seen used all too often.
I look for a light that has shown results. I don't care if you tell me it is 1W or 1,000,000W. I don't care if you tell me it has all the spectrums of the sun and shower me with optimum photosynthesis wavelengths. Too much BS in the market to invest based on (often exaggerated) specs and claims. Make it run reliably cool and efficient and test, tweak, test, tweak, repeat. Once you release your product you may have only one chance to have your product build a rep, good or bad.

The best you can do for your product is go through some journals, pick an independent grower, donate him/her your lights with an agreement to document the grow and hope that the results speak for themselves. This will be the only advertising you need.

I don't have any kessils, but I've always been intrigued by them since they are so different from the rest of the led lights out. Interested to see that new halo in action.

That's true, unless another company influences the gardener to throw the grow on and make those LED lights look bad on purpose.
I'm not saying it's happened, I'm just saying it's probably happened.
If any of you have been following the evolution of LED's over the last 2 years via grow journals, then you already know that some shady shit goes on sometimes behind the scenes.
Remember, this is the internet, the person on the other end could be a conglomeration of people all sharing the same account trying to deceive you.
When money talks, the liars speak up too.
