As of now LED is not better than HID. They have a lot of kinks and a lot of variables to be worked out. In the future, they will be better, but for now they are just a really expensive experiment. Give it another few years and then you can start seeing a real difference.

What do you mean by "so different"?
Single HID's emit a very wide spectrum of light; in all directions (up, down, 360 degrees all around!)
Single LED's emit a very narrow spectrum of light (centered on a particular wavelength); in a beam of specified angle.

HID's generate light by electrically exciting gas inside an arc tube (inside the larger bulb).
LED's generate light by passing current through a diode (the chemical composition of the diode dictates the color).

LED's are much better than HID's (on paper), in real life - not so much! They cost much more to buy and much less to operate. They are great for vegging; for flowering - not so much. They have improved quite a bit in the last dozen or so years (since NASA started the whole "Grow With LED's" thing), but still fall far short of being REVOLUTIONARY. That old "Give them a couple more years to fully develope" is a bunch of crap, it's been a couple of years for at least ten years now - where's the REVOLUTIONARY LED's?.

In my grow I use CFL which make some heat and aren't the greatest for flowering, fine for veg though.
Normally I use Tin foil on the walls of the grow room.
I decided however to put 6 band hex LED Panels surrounding the plants on the walls. I couldn't add CFL's there because they would be too close to the leaves.
Even though the LED's don't put out a ton of light I assume they will add something to the grow and I only paid about $30 for each 12"x12" panel, so why not.
They make no heat and use hardly any electricity.
Like the other guy was saying when it comes to light spectrum, the LED's put out almost nothing that the plant won't use, making them the ultimate in efficiency. For example other lights put out some green light which isn't used and only adds to heat, but not LED's.
I like the 6 band because it puts out a tiny bit of IR, UV (I also have a separate UV CFL bulb)
I will see how it does this flowering period, buds are just forming now.

This is what I bought

Uh, almost every year they have gotten better.... They will continue to get better. You may be really young, but that is how technology works. Improves over the years...
