LED VS HPS, What's the best route for lighting

Why would you need to spend a couple grand on lights?
Well what cheaper good led lights would you reccomend to a beginner grower looking for one that would be equivalent to a 600hps or a 1000watt cos i know you Americans tended to prefer those you maybe have better knowledge about leds prices etc its been ages since i looked into them tbh ?

I'm using LED, HID, T5's, and the sun. If I could get my hands on a quantity of the Halogen-IR bulbs I'd run 100% with those but they're hard to find these days. It must be due to overwhelming demand.

I'm thinking of running 20 of these 100 watt incandescent bulbs. That would give me 2000 watts of light in the 4x4. Imagine the dense colas that much light would produces. I'd supplement that with some red lights for the far red spectrum as well.

First off I’m not American I take great offence to even being grouped as one.

Any 480 qb or strip light will destroy a 600 HPS in every way. There is many options with varying prices for LED, the more you spend will not give you a better harvest, I’ve proved that over numerous times in my journal. I bought my cheap Chinese flower room lights 4 years ago now and they are still going strong like day 1

If you are serious about getting lights I can find you some whatever your budget may be I’m sure.

Hey now. You Canadians have problems of your own. Some of your elected officials act like they're smoking crack? What the hell is going on up there?

I'd take great offense if you were from America, so it's a draw, :bigjoint:

i think the biggest thing about leds is the savings on hydro in a sealed room where you rely on a mini split for cooling. this time last year with hps my bill for the month was $1000 this year my bill was $180. i thought it would be harder to see the savings but its really not if your running a/c. if your able to do an air cooled room where you dont rely on an air conditioner i wouldn't expect such a difference in hydro bills.

Led easily, you can grow great weed with either but more efficiency, less power consumption, less heat generated and easier to see in. You get prettier colors with the cooler spectrum in most leds too. Your standard 600w hps puts out around 800umol, even a $300 480w bar light puts out ~1300umol and has a multi harvest lifespan. It’s really a no brainer these days.

I use hps myself but led is better if you gonna spend a couple of grand on a good set up the cheap ones aint the same from all i seen so if you dont wanna spend lots hps is still a good way to go
Marshydro - 480w - 700w
Spider farmer - 480w - 700w
Meiju- 480w - 700w
Kindbrite- 480w - 700w

I replaced a 400w HPS setup with a 300w Marshydro Panel that utilises bridgelux diodes.

never been happier.

While others who have no right to be in office, act like they are dictators. Justin Trudeau!

Even Claus Schwab likes Justin - that would be enough of a reason to get him out of the PM position lol.
