Yes but you can get a lot of air cooled ballasts now. I've read a dew people say that these ballasts actually cool down there grow room. Thats a big plus as well.

I can't purchase from them. they won't deliver to Canada
so I'm looking into a dual spectrum light. It takes both Mh and hps both at the same time or you can put to of the same.
I recently been reading that its not just about the amount of lumens you are getting thats more important but the right spectrum of light.
Its interesting stuff.

That guy is having pretty good results with his LEDs, you should check it out. He has the same style of bulbs you have, with them being either red or blue, not mixed like yours.

Well how about you explain why its a poor measurement scale and also explain how its relivent to say fluorescent lights or hid's, but not to led's?
And if Lumen output isnt relivent when it comes to led's, then why would they rate them with a lumen output instead of a "proper measurement scale" as you claim...

The lumen (symbol: lm) is the SI unit of luminous flux, a measure of the perceived power of light. Luminous flux differs from radiant flux, the measure of the total power of light emitted, in that luminous flux is adjusted to reflect the varying sensitivity of the human eye to different wavelengths of light.
When you are purchasing LED lights for growing it will be in the red or blue wavelengths that the plant requires for chlorophyl production. The human eye sees light best closer to green (if I have remembered correctly) so lumens when applied to specific wavelengths other than green (if I have remembered correctly) lumens is a distorted measurement unit.
I haven't explained it very well, I once wrote a big post on it for someone else but I can't find it. Let me know if it doesn't make sense and I will dig out all the graphs and stuff.
Basically the plant will see more light at red and blue wavelengths than humans perceive.

Why do HID lights look so bright?
The human eye is very sensitive to light in the yellow and green regions (500-600 nm). HID lights produce a large amount of yellow and green light, so they look very bright indeed to the human eye. The following chart shows the relative spectral intensity of LEDGrowLights and a typical HID-MH grow light, together with the human eye response curve. LEDGrowLights have much less energy in the yellow-green area, so they do not look nearly as bright to your eyes as HID lights.
