Could you tell me where it is legal to smoke and/or grow marijuana? Please only include areas in the US and Canada. If it is legal for medicinal purposes, how do you go about getting that license? I'd love to know!

Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont , and Washington appear to be medical.

In my personal opinion (not just because I live here though) California is the best option if you're seeking a 420 friendly place to live.

Dont forget the lovely east coast state of Maryland!!!.. Found from talking to growers and smokers alike that its a very liberal state and friendly towards 420... Lived there and got the lights behind me they found half an oz and let me go saying there not interested in harrassing a smoker they want the money makers...

What I want in terms of cannabis in california is exactly what we had prior to the AG bullshit, so long as the DEA stays the fuck out of here... i'm not for 100% legalization, just for the DEA pissin' off.

I am for 100% legalization. I want cannabis to be treated the same as homebrewing. Tax if purchased in a shop (which could also lead to standards of production and quality as well), allow adults to make (grow) in the home with no oversight at all as long as they don't sell. The Alphabet Boys would be hard-pressed to find enough to do if we did this, of course.

100% legalization would lead to large companies producing it, and devaluing it. Which would put large numbers of growers out of business.

Yeah, honestly, I don't care about the growers. I care more about people incarcerated for having weed, being treated as though that alone makes them criminals. It would be the same as beer, wine, and tobacco, with the same problems and benefits. Nothing is trouble/problem free.

Hehheh.. instead of moonshine you could get weedshine.

Amen for that! Yes, I did check out NORML briefly. I clicked on each individual state and looked at the laws. As far as penalties for growing, I believe Ohio, Wyoming (growing any amount is considered a misdemeanor with a 6 month incarseration and $1,000 fine..as long as you don't sell it), Maine, and California are the most lenient...except in Cali it is a felony if you are not a patient or caregiver. I guess I was wanting to hear from those who have personal experience with growing medical marijuana. I wanted to know where they live and how they became caregivers.

Los Angeles... I suffered a very bad injury, and several treatments down the road, I ended up a patient... I started growing when I was a little kid, so it worked out perfectly.

Allegedly most people down here who are not in need just see conman doctors and pay them $80-$100 bucks for a rec...

A rec.? So you're a patient. Patients can grow... :-) And to be a caregiver you do what? Can any nurse do that or is there a special qualification?
