legit Benzo questions....

Hey all, as some of you may know my wife is bi-polar and has public anxiety. in the past she has had a running script for Xanax (and to a lesser ex-stint Klonopin). well she went to her theripist last night because the Xanax (.5mg) is no longer curving the panic attacks. he sent her home with 10 Valium, 10 Xanax , 10 Klonopin, and 10 Adavan to try and see which one works the best....well me being me, i want her to be safe, i dont really like the idea of her taking Valium but if she needs it she needs it...my question is which one is the best? she is limited to how she can try them (has to wait for a panic attack) so in an effort to save time, which one should she try first?

Benzos have never been my scene so i am lost....
Time to school me kids....

i'd say the klonopin's would be my first, then of course the zannies, and the v's are pretty worthless ime..

Depends on how frequently she needs one. If she takes it daily Klonopin would work better, if it's only one every few days Xanax is the best. Taking Xanax daily leads to bad places.

klono = end all be all benzo

xanax = next step down

valium / atavan = even further down the line

What do you have against valium in particular?

From what friends with anxiety tell me, valium may or may not take the edge off, but it is less likely to make the user feel out of it. Klonopin is similar to xanax, but a bit less sedating, and once again, it is less likely to make the user feel out of it. It also might not kick in as quickly, and it will last longer. I'm not sure about adavan. Adavan might be the benzo used to sedate unruly patients in a hospital, so perhaps that is the most sedating. Please note that this info might not be correct. Have your wife do some research on each drug, and that might help guide her as to which benzo to try first. I wish her luck getting her panic attacks under control!

my ignorance is showing...lol, i assumed because the mg was higher it would make her a zombie...

Her frequency is about every two days...but not as predicable..some days she takes 2mgs of Xanax (through out the day) some days nothing...sometimes she will go a week with no issues, some times she has to use 3 days in a row.

I dont think she liked the Klonopin in the past....but she was also on different anti-depresents too.
she is on
900mg Lithium Daily now and an anti-depressent (starts with a P, very common, on the tip of my tounge....)

valium atavan - could make her into a zombie if she took enough lol

ANY BENZO will make you into a zombie

but to be honest you shouild have her check into GABA supplements i use to think i needed benzo's cause i have AWFULL anxiety due to my Aspbergurs

but i started to take close to 800mg- 1 g of gaba supplement a day and smoking lots of weed andits been HELPING SOO MUCH

and ive had the chance to try alot of benzo's as my mom has depression and my fiances parents are a walking pharmacy

Yes i will agree the WEED is a godsend especially with the nausea caused by the Lithium, i am looking into the GABA sups now...

my friend is manic bipolar and gets panic attacks sometimes. he uses ativan and it helps the best for him.

also, if your wife takes the valium make sure she does not eat or drink grapefruit before.

If you want to know how I detoxed from it, and natural things to use that work like lithium but won't shut down your internal organs. Like kava kava tea, or bathing in a bath with lithium rocks in it. Lithium is not supposed to be ingested. Only trying to help from personal experience. :peace:

I 100% completely agree...i hate that she is on Lithium (so does she) but it is the only thing that can stablize her mood....she has actually seen a decrease (from 1200 to 900) so i can only hope he keeps taking it down

I hope so too buddy. My body's organs almost shut down from a month of 1200 mg. Twas awful.

Why are v's worthless to you!? They have the best euphoric feeling and best muscle relaxant properties..

klonopins are the best for anxiety in my opinion, But i dont think you should be worried about her takin valium if she was already takin xanax in the past. Xanax has a WAAAAYYYY worse detox and a harder drug in general. But klonopins last longer and are more relaxing from my experience. Plus withdrawing from xanax can cause DEADLY seizures, so just be careful brother.

Xanax is a horrible drug, I hate it, way too sedating. Klonopin is barely sedating, and is a much strong anxiolytic compared to xanax (it actuall has the strongest anxiolytic effects besides Etizolam which is easily bought on the internet cheaply if you know the right source)

Xanax doesnt sedate me. It makes me want to get up and get shit done, and at 3 bars or more, it makes me want to get up and make mad amounts of money, any way i can, and i mean ANY WAY.... Xanax is a horrible drug and should be outlawed.... Theres much better anxiety drugs out there, like klonopins
