legit cannabis events in Cali

Ok. It's come time to separate the fakers from the real. Too many promotional companies have jumped on the bandwagon and are now putting on these events just to sucker people into spending money. Let's separate the legit events from the fakes.

By legit events I mean specifically events where cannabis is allowed to be displayed, sold, and permit samples to be given out. There are things about all events that people may like or dislike, but this seems to be the one defining factor that makes these events for real or fake.

If you are unsure if an event is legitimate or faking it, post here and I'll try to find their terms and conditions and let you know before you waist your money buying a ticket.

Here's one I found that appears to be legitimate

October 7, 8, & 9, 2011. In San Francisco: http://www.jmrexpos.com/index.htm

From there terms and conditions;

4.*ALL*BUSINESS*MUST*BE*LEGAL.**NO*DISPLAYING*OR*SAMPLE*DISTRIBUTION
OF*ANY*MARIJUANA*CONSUMABLES*OUTSIDE*OF*THE*DESIGNATED*PROP.
215*AREA.
That means samples/sales may take place as long as it's in the 215 area. Fair enough, legit event.

Here's a fakers event designed just to suck the cash out of your pocket. All tease and marketing, no bud:

http://kushexpo.com/

From their terms and conditions:

KUSH
EXPO RULES AND REGULATIONS. Tenant shall obey all federal, state, local laws, rules
and regulations. The sale, distribution or display of items derived from the cannabis plant
or containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is prohibited,
unless the item is specifically
exempted from control by federal law, rule or regulation. Prohibited items include (1) any
item derived from the cannabis plant containing THC, and is also edible, used or intended
for use for human consumption or causes THC to enter the human body; and (2) medical
marijuana in any form. Samples of medical marijuana, as well as, sales and placing orders
for future purchases of medical marijuana are also prohibited
Fail. No herb, not getting my money.

HempCon events now include the same text in their terms and conditions and are enforcing a similar policy.

If anyone knows of any more upcoming events, please post about them here so we can figure out which of these events are legit or not.

They don't have terms and conditions at all so I can only speculate (I might have to call them). This appears not being thrown by a big promotional company. And it's in Santa Cruz where no officials care about such things. Held on private property. It looks underground as fuck. Holly shit that looks awesome! I'll see you there! Thanks for posting this! Kick ass!

Just got an update today:

Note from Organizer: It is unfortunate but at this time we have had to cancel the Santa Cruz Cannabis Harvest Festival due to our location contract being nullified and unable to obtain another 215 friendly location within the country under such short notice. Our previous location, a wonderful private property set amongst the redwoods in Bonny Doon, was ideal and our shuttle service to the location was the perfect system. However due to those forces that we cannot fight there are times such as these that create issues that cannot be overcome, and we apologize to all for this. Current ticket holders should have already received an automatic refund from our ticket service - Eventbrite. If you have not please let us know.

i like what you're doing Dan. Very awesome.

I myself have been interested in attending an event like the ones you're talking about.

Ive always been a fan of putting together (or discovering) a cannabis farmers market complete with tight security (ie. making sure those entering the even aren't armed criminals etc)

it would be a nice way to bring REAL patients in need w/ caregivers (i cant see too many with cards for faked medical conditions attending an event like that when they can use budtrader or CL and get some delivered)

The West coast cannabis and music festival is taking place on the 7-9th at the cow palace in San Francisco. Phone calls have been made to confirm the fact that cannabis will be dispensed at this event, making it legit.

Since all 140-150 of the San Jose dispensaries are likely to be shut down at the end of the month, many of them have gotten booths to unload their remaining inventories here. Probably should be some sweet scores there. I highly recommended this one!

It can be fun. If you go to too many they get repetitive, but it's still a good time. If you've never been you should check one out when you get the chance.

Me too.

Events are fun. I like to see real patients and the fake ones. All are welcome in my opinion. I just hate the events that are all about marketing and BS but don't let the bud flow so people can enjoy themselves. Some events just seem more like they have the attitude of "give us your money, take our ads, then leave.". That's what I've got a problem with.

I wonder how easy/difficult it would be to get one put together. I feel like if security is tight then there should be no serious problems (problems = getting those types of events banned) & we can all go home happy.

I have no idea what permit process they need to go through or how these things are even legal at all. Yet they happen....

I'm hoping this new Fed shit doesn't stop the Cup for next year. I can honestly say that was the most fun I have had at a venue in quite some time. :D

I think this is just scare tactics. Last time the FED's did this nothing happened. They'll bust a couple clubs and parade the employees in perp walks so the cameras see them, and then they'll move on. This is about raising the fear levels and discouraging MMJ in California, not stopping it. I don't think they have the power to stop it.

I hope that you are right. All this is really going to do is cause more patients to grow their own. :D
Business interests are more powerful than government agencies. There is enough money behind dispensaries now to where they could put up a damn good fight if they unified against the FEDs. You can't simply erase a multi-billion dollar industry. They've been trying that with tobacco for 50+ years. But they've got too much money.

What MMJ needs is a lobby. If dispensaries got together and hired a lobbying company we'd have no problems. If they government pushes too hard they'll force dispensaries to do exactly that.

As they should. the gov't is really WRONG on this and couldn't be more blind. there are far more upsides than downsides to legalization and/or taxing mmj.

i sure hope the clubs grow balls and fight back. they could win imo.

I've been shouting this for years! Thank you for starting this thread. If you listened to the US Attorney's announcement on Friday, you know that they brought this up. It's the shady promoters, magazines, and dispensaries that brought this on all of us. I've been trying to get a venue to do a legit expo but they have all seen what the bad guys are doing and don't want anything to do with it. If you're in the Sacramento area, check out my event, Puff, Puff, Politics. https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=153914811366882 <-----facebook link.
