Lemon juice for PH Down

Am I the last guy out there paying $ 8.00 for a bottle of ph down when I could use lemon juice to do the same thing? Crap, ok anyone have a dosage suggestion?
I water out of a very large aquarium that displays the same PH as the tap 8.40.
I adjust to 7.0
Comments please.

id just go out and buy PH down IMOH it only takes a few drops to bring the PH down. lemon will take loads to bring it down. vinager would be better, but i still would use it.

lemon juice is my ph down. just a tablespoon or 2 depending on your water. get a ph meter to test to see how much you use.

Yeah, I'm pretty hip on the whole PH concept - I've got a really nice meter that reads into the hundreths - But I live in a very small town on a very large Island - Our only pet shop is going under very soon & no driving over to the next town to find one. I'm gonna experiment with the lemon as it might become a necessity soon.

You could pick up some ph up/down online too. Probably a lot cheaper than lemon juice too, picked up a quart for like $10.

I checked Ebay & you're right except they always tack on another 10 or so for shipping (I ain't easy to get to & don't even mention UPS !!)

i just tried this with lemon juice (real lemon brand in the bottle), brought my ultra hard 8+ ph down to 5.8 or lower. also... i used maybe 4 ml on 2 ltrs of tap water
