Lemon Kush, COBs and flood tables

So grew for years in promix, with a limited AN line up. Now I switched to flood and drain... my first go at hydro, with limited GH line of nutes. \

The clones are Lemon Kush, which I ordered online from WeedMD. Here they are on day one right after delivery... overnight air, 3500kms in -30 weather to get to me. They're sad looking, but it was a hard trip...

Here they are 5 days later.
They came in rockwool cubes, which I just set above the waterline. I top fed too much and the cubes were soaked so their roots weren't diving down into the pots. I stripped the cubes off and re-set them in the hydroton. The pics are at the end of the day and they be tired....

Nevertheless their overall condition I a bit concerning. I've never had such sad looking girls...lol
hoping they will start looking like real plants soon. lol

Last reading - canopy 77, water 71, PPM 470, pH 6.1

I've seen worse come back and grow just fine fyi.

Ya... the trick is knowing how to bring them back.

Im a fish out of water doing hydro... lol
You will get it figured out. You picked the easiest way to do hydro in my opinion.

You may have better luck with just a little lower pH. I like 5.8 for hydro personally.

Once those roots recover and take off you will see the plants perk up and start growing.

I took the ph down. A little back and forth with the down then up so when i hit 5.9 just let it be for now. Also raised the lights and dimmed them... but that dropped the temp to 74ish...also sprizted with some tap water

It always comes down to the roots... lol

How often do you adjust to keep pH at 5.8?
It seems that mine climbs back to 6 or 6.1 a few hours after i bring it down. Like its buffered there or something because it seems to stay around 6.1

Your getting there. And you've got solid instructors lol.

You caught and fixed the rock wool issue. Now the plants just need to root and they will turn around nicely.

Say... had the cuttings been healthier and i hadnt had to mess with stripping the rockwool... how long does it take to get the roots to get to the bottom of the net pot?

Or rather... under ideal conditions how fast should i expect the root development to be?

Usually the first week after I put clones into pots they are mostly growing roots. After about 2-3 days I typically start seeing some fresh leaves growing and by the end of that week the plants are usually vegging well. If I plant them too low in my pots and the rapid rooters stay real wet things slow down though. (That happened with about 5/15 this time). Right around this time I usually remove the lowest spout sites on the stems. I leave the fan leaves but twist off the growth tip to encourage the plant to put it's growth efforts into growing up, not growing branches at the bottom of the stem. (I typically do that again when I put them into flower. Just removing the 1-2 bottom branch sites.)

At the end of the second week there are roots coming out of the bottom, and the plants have typically grown several nodes. Depending on the height they either go to flower or get a few more days(or a week)to get a bigger.

This is excellent info... its like a measuring stick for me.

Also, helps to tame expectations of an impatient person...lol

It seems im not too far off. Ive seen some new leaves and some root growth when i stripped the rockwool.

So got some odd looking growth going on.
Some twisting and curling of brand new growth. Some uneven growth where fan leaves on one side of the node are much bigger than the other side or opposite side....

Never encountered this before... can anybody help identify whats going on here?

Lack of calcium? I went quite light with that last mix...
