All in all they look pretty good from here. I would lower the Ppms personally. With my heaviest eaters I still only ramp up to 1000-1100. If the ppms are rising then the plants are drinking water and not eating nutrients.

Thats what i was thinking... drinking but not eating. So... not sure why that would be....

Im just guessing lack of oxygen in the water... cause of some stuff ive been reading. So i added some cycles to my circulation pump. I have squirting some fine streams down into the surface of the res..

Was thinking the ppms might be too much too, but no tip burn... which might be because of the above... not taking the nutes...

I don't get the twisty leaves. That looks kinda like a reveg lol. If you pH been staying solid?
Ya, ph has been solid 5.7 to 6.2 and my meter is solid too. Water temp is great.

As i said above... the only thing i can think of is lack of oxygen in the water might be causing some nute uptake probs...

Or maybe....

My room has been quite dry. The cold temps outside have dropped RH to less than 20%, which dropped room humidity down to around 35% at times. So i have been seeing some bits of salt form on top of the hydroton... wonder if there is more under the surface that is being leached into the res, raising ppms...

Just a thought.

In a flood table you shouldn't have to worry about dissolved oxygen because the plants get plenty of air between floods. At least this is what I was taught.

That is also the principle I learned. For years I ran a air stone in my res just because. I got some slime in my res one time though and I ditched the air stone and mer looked back. Most flood trays also drain via a water fall effect that agitates the water......

That being said, I just designed something I'm gonna try. For years I've wanted to try adding air right to my pots. I think if might allow me to water the plants more times a day and potentially give them a boost in growth. I followed another growers guide and did this with soil years ago and it worked awesome.

So I designed an Air manifold that will fit directly in the bottom of my 6inch pots, and I designed a basket style pot with the manifold built in. Now I just need to get to the library and 3d print them try to them out on a couple plants.

It might be totally pointless, or it might work wonders and be a great idea. Guess I'll see.

I recall you and a couple others explained that to me before. I dont doubt that, im just grasping at why the ppms seem to be rising. And i figured wth... extra aeration cant hurt so give it a try and see what happens...

Post pics and tag me... id like to see that...

Well...
Did a res change tonight and it was pretty clean. But then i checked my pumps and.... wouldnt ya know it... a bit of slime on the electric cords.

Is that usual? Lol

So before i added the new nutes i dumped some h202 over the pumps and cords... it foamed up a bit... hopefully ill be okay???

Man... getting all the probs in one run...lol

Was it actual slime or were the cords just slippery?

I have only got slime in my res twice . I never pin pointed which kind of slime it was I just destroyed it lol. I ran h2o2 for a while and I never got it to work well with out dumping it in every day.

Then after running a couple tests because the idea scared me I switched to sterilizing with pool shock. It worked perfect and I never have looked back. I mostly only run it in the summer when temps are higher. My res on probably stays to cold in the winter but I don't want to fuck around adding a heater.

Anyway in the summer I mix one teaspoon of pool shock granuals into a gallon of water. Then I add 1oz of that solution per gallon in my res about every 3-4 days. Keeps things nice and clean.

The cords were slimy and when rub one to see some floated....
So... not sure what i was seeing...lol

Is it just preventative or can you add it after the fact to clear it up?

I googled pool shock and holy shit... lots of options there...lol

Can you send a link to which one? Non chlorine i suspect?

Actually no the chlorine is what you want. I initially used it to clear up the issue. Then just added it preventatively since then.

I couldn't find a link to the exact one I use. It's hth brand and is in a pink cylinder. It is actually labeled on mine as spa shock. I bought it at walmart over 4 years ago, and you can hardly tell I have used any of it. Mine says it is 45% chlorine.

Cool... that helps...
Ill go have a look at walmart... canadian tire has it too it seems.
Hopefully it isnt a seasonal item...lol

Eh it's almost that season anyway so I bet they will have it. I noticed several local stores putting out the spring planting stock already.
