@robincnn

First, thank you very much for this data compilation.

I'm deciphering that at about 18" above canopy 10"-12" overlapping Stella HB lenses would give the greatest results!?!? Their edge over lap would be the highest at 220 and 308

Below I hand drawn a chart using your data the best that I could but for 4 lights in a 2x2' fixture coving a 4x4' area.

Now I'm sure there's issues with my logic but the Stella HB is the winner for sure. Tho....it seems too good. So maybe somethings wrong anyway. The circles with the boxes is how I multiples the overlap of the light. Granted it doesn't cover outside your metering zones and I used circles for light foot print zones but I believe this to be generally accurate.

Sorry for not being so nice and perfect looking. I don't know how you did the boxes on a computer

Anyway
Data points are numbered and dots represent their collection points based on your data as if they were overlapped.

What I'm getting is for COB for collection point overlapping at 18" totals:

Bare
1. 460
2. 450
3. 230
4. 345
5. 115
6. 170
Total 1,770

KB80
1. 640
2. 630
3. 320
4. 475
5. 160
6. 220
Total 2,445

KB120
1. 652
2. 620
3. 326
4. 465
5. 163
6. 240
Total 2,476

Ledil Stella HB
1. 880
2. 816
3. 440
4. 645
5. 220
6. 200
Total 3,021

Ledil ang ref
1. 640
2. 620
3. 320
4. 485
5. 160
6. 220
Total 2,445

Also, do you think you could explain the logic in the Stella hb being the only light that lost strength moving from open space to the tent please? That has me baffled......maybe the optic came loose or something!?!? Just not logical.

Thank you for your time

You like the Swedish Optics or Italian Optics.
If you bring Swedish optics close to your nose, it smells like <Imagine the most musty smelling human being you ever met>.
The Italian optics looks awesome. I posted some pics in SST120 SST140 thread.

Look how even the coverage is.

Yes it was not easy to hold it in place. so ignore the data from Stella in tent. The data above is more accurate.

4 lights in a 2x2' fixture coving a 4x4' area
16sqft 40w/sqft =640w, 640/4=160W/cob
How much power on each COB. Stella is too focused so at higher power it becomes a issue. You will have to increase to height. You may need 3-4ft just between canopy and optics.

Coverage does look even.....hmm. I'm doing 12 cxb 3590 with 4 per HLG 185-1400b.
Was planning on having 1 cob per sqft......with Stella hb. Will that not work? Figured 18-24" above canopy. Parts are in the mail and I've had the Stella HB since October unpackaged so smell is gone. :)

I gotta say.....you're convincing me more that the Stella HB are the best for a multi cob grow!!!
The khatod light gives me totals of 3,489 where as the Stella HB gives me 4,372.
That's more light on canopy which is what we all want!!!! Eventually I'll have 20 cxb 3590s here with my 20 Stella HBs. So what am I missing because at 50 watts per cxb 3590 the Stella wins!

Also, I've lived in Europe.....so most Europeans seem to smell pretty musty to me...... :P

In a tent i prefer a wider spread optic to get some reflections from the walls. More diffused light and cob can be closer to canopy.
Narrow optics spread apart may be good for outside tent. Will keep leakage to minimum.
1 cob per sqft @ 35-50W with Stella HB may work. Give it a try since you already bought them. Dimmer and extra headroom will come handy.
Good luck.

Thanks for the thoughts. I've been bouncing it all around my mind a lot here. Never thought about the benefits of wider spread and wall reflection hitting the plant at different angles......brilliant.
When these lights all get in and I have everything I'm gonna do 1 50w cxb 3590 per 13 inches squared 12 total. At 20" above canopy with Stella HB. With sativa and indica/sativa mixes. I'd love to get a par meter to see actual spread. Don't think I'll be around past veg but when I donate it all to my friend I'll report how it goes. It's dim able of course so likely I'll be needing that. Probably begin 12/12 when they're about 5" tall.

New Kingbrite KB-GL 100-90 Silicone Lens (SAMPLE)
This may not be the final design. This is a test sample. Jerry will try to improve the design if we have any feedback for him.
So lets see how it looks and performs. Please feel free to make any recommendation here.

Testing the Optics on SST105. pre drilled 92mm holes for Jerry's new silicone optics

Cree 3590CD 72V with PLM40-500. so 500ma with the 72V cob or like 1000ma with 36V

Saw jerry's finger print on optics so cleaned the optics with mild soap water and cloth. Gloves are recommendation to oil from oils messing up the optics. don't want to fingerprints on inner side. notes from here

The batwing of khatod Khatod PL1825SR gives very even coverage.
upload_2016-6-27_19-23-23.png
The kingbrite silicone lens does not have batwing spread like khatod.
Kingbrite silicone lens is not ultra clear like khatod

Kingbrite silicone lens does looks better than ledil stella.
Kingbrite silicone lens is compatible with 3590 with Ideal holder. Khatod does not work with Ideal holder.
I think Kingbrite's new lens is good option if price is cheep. Khatod range fro $15- $22 per lens/lens holder combo

Kingbrite's new lens spread looks similar to KB 100mm 80 degree lens and the Angelina reflector.
Kingbrite's new lens has a sharp cut-off, which is good.
It will be even better if the center was slightly less intense and light was more evenly spread out
upload_2016-6-27_19-28-28.png
*different wattage and setup than the setup today. mounting height is different. 18" vs 12"

any feedback for Jerry ?

*different wattage and setup than the setup today. Compare ratio of center and outer numbers to get spread estimates.

any feedback for Jerry ?
wider angle ? batwing spread to eliminate center focus bias.

Just realized old tests were at 18" and this one is at 12". I think it will spread wide at 18". This one looks wide enough.
yes the batwing spread to eliminate center focus bias and overall more even coverage would be better.
Can we expect a reading at 18" for the KB-GL's in the near future? :-D

Decent work on your end as always.

Would it be safe to assume the current for the Khatod tests were close to 1000ma? ;)
Khatod
580ma on the one at 12". Don't have the current for 18". Khatod test cob is also 3590 CD 3500K but not the same cob as the one used in Jerry's lens testing.

I adjusted the current in both 12" and 18" test of Khatod so that the center is same intensity as Jerry's lens. That way easy to compare

I the 100mm glass lens spacing. It's over 100mm.
This lens is 92 mm so not same screw positions as 100mm glass lens

Getian Cobs. No. Will look it up

Edit: 100mm glass lens is 112mm screw diagonal distance
