Learn to build a proper grow room with orca foil. Lenses ore reflector are usesless in growing weed with led cobs . Whem I put my reflector ON (angelina) the bottom of the plant dont get that much light as withouth It. Only the top get full blasted giving nice buds on the top and fluff on the bottom. The leds we use have a perfect diffuse reflector are for hps.

That guy is making lights with 3 or 4 cobs more uniform than 20 evenly spaced bare cobs over the same space, using custom asymmetric lenses. I'd expect other makers to crack that nut soon, but it hasn't been done by any DIYers yet as far as I know.

Thanks for the link, I think.. I'll be reading a bit. The hot spots aren't a real problem at the 50w each I am running them. When I was running veros at 100w it was a bit of a problem. Thanks!

Yeah it's really just a cool way to make affordable lights with a few high wattage cobs. The new Vero and Citizens, and presumably whatever Cree has up it's sleeve, are looking pretty phenomenal at 100W+

Yup.

The closer your beam gets to the surface normal, the less useful it is to a three dimensional plant.

The more varied you make your angle of incidence, the more opportunity you create for plant matter to occupy three dimensional space.

Reflectors/lenses/collimators are better for scrog/sog/vertical with a shallower canopy.

Diffuse light is better for everything else.

I buy everything you said,if i could see yield results to back it up.the reason i say that is with cobs,for most of us,we are using 8,10,or even 15 points of light.so its already set up to shine down in 3d just like the 3d plant below is.i could see where that theory would def hold up with hps or single point light sources.i.just dont know if it holds up in a scenario where theres 15 cobs over 1 plant.or even in a room with no walls to reflect the diffused light just never comes back to the plant.idk haha.

My testing space is currently occupied, but given time, I will "prove" it.
Proper Spacing/Layout > Evenly Spaced Chips.

Sure in the case of an aisle or something, but anyone who doesnt use a removable partition in an aisle or open space is losing many times the cost of the partition in herb every cycle.

In any event, when you change the shape of the beam from a wide cone shape to a narrower cylinder you are lessoning the chance that photons will slip through the top of the canopy to the lower levels.

Hence why @optzulu was complaining that they got more larf with reflectors on.

i have 4x 180w cob panels.
citizen 1212 clue 048 running at 40-50w each.
And grow space 120x120x200 cm.

Do you recomand me some lenses or reflectors..which one is better?

I have possibility to buy reflectors and holders 60degree angle.

And other option isglass lenses 90 degree angle.

What do you recomande?

90 degree lenses will do everything you need.

I found some 100mm and 78mm lenses on alibaba..
90degree angle..

Should i take 100mm ones for cob 1212 clue 048,or it doesnt matter..?

I used lenses to both help focus the light on the intended target and to protect fragile chips in a hostile environment. I really don't think it cost me more light than I gained.

I agree but have you tried it with your plants(naked vs reflector ? If you did you had to come to the conclusion that when you use the reflectors you need to higher your fixture to 40-50cm instead of 20-25cm next you lose 5% on the reflector self and after time even 10%.
I also see a much longer stretch when I use reflectors while with naked cobs I just bend and supercrop until week 3 of flower then the grow stops and you have a even canopy for the rest of the grow.

I havent tried both ways, but run bare cobs and seems to work for me, and I have 5' height tent so its best for me bare it seems anyway.
I usually have cobs 10-12" away running 12 cobs in 2x4' space at 30-35 watts each depending on canopy temps

I think its best to see it by yourself..

To try reflectors/lens..and to try running cobs bare..

I will build two panes with some kind of reflectors..and the other two without..so i guess i wil see the differance.

But i think that you people just convinced me that running cobs bare isnt a big mistake..like i thought..and that is a huge deal for me :-)
