Lensed lights

I was in the hardware store today and saw a light that was a 'red' spot light, it was a normal 100w 5 in or so spot bulb but the lens on it was painted red so that the light would shine red.

Are otherwise 'standard' lights with red lenses actually red in color temperature or does the lens only change the visible spectrum of light?

Would a 100w red spotlight be great for flowering? It can't just be as simple as putting a filter on the light can it?

no, it's not that simple. It's still an incandescent no matter what color the bulb is painted. For flowering use soft white cfl's andfor vegging use daylight.

I am currently using a yellow 'household interior' CFL that is like 45 watts (huge), is this spectrum ok? My plants are flowering ending week 3ish. I have 2 23 watt daylights, too.

I need to get a handle on which bulbs are what temperature and what is good for flowering and what is good for veg.
