Today is Ash Wednesday the official beginning of Lent. Although I am not a Christian I figured it would be a learning experience. So I officially celebrated Fat Tuesday last night as a last hoorah before the fast.

How many of you participate in Lent and how strict are you?

I drank a 12 pack on an empty stomach last night, ended up throwing up in the shower 4 times, scooping it up and carrying it to the toilet. So ya, I probably won't be drinking for 40 days. Does that count?

TMI?^ beer doesn't get me sick. until the next day maybe.

i was about to say fat tuesday and than ash wednesday not a good combo but gl

lay off the alky man................i remember you telling us you were an alcoholic. If your going to be addicted to something make it cannabis. stay away from that fire water.

Oh ya that would have been my move except I did that once this year so I gotta avoid that BS. I was out of it for like 2 FULL days after.

"Lent", I try to respect it however, holding true to it, not always.
But isn't that what its all about -
confess=forgive=repeat

So how does this lent thing work? I was raised dutch reformed, they don't do lent.

ive learnt about lent from the many catholics i know, and honestly i think its the biggest pile of bs. the main point of it is to practice restraint by giving up something you enjoy. im an agnostic who is tolerant of religion, but last year a smacked my friend in the face when he said he gave up smoking for lent. i may have over reacted, but he was just so damn proud of it. most people give up sweets, or some other trivial things. i wonder if a catholic is allowed to give up going to church for lent....
