Having looked back in the thread it appears you are using a 250W HPS. My advice is find a way of making that lights' height adjustable. For example, screw some hooks on the top of the closet and attach some chains to hang the light from. To test how low to keep the plants lower them to about 3" above the plants and place your hand underneath. If its too hot for your hand its too hot for the plants. Adjust as necessary.

One more thing, try not to water them everyday. Its best to let the soil dry out to encourage the roots to branch out and find water. It is best to give the soil containers one thorough watering a week (1/2 to 3/4 gallon) and allow the container to dry out during that time.

However I also recommend spraying the top of the soil and the plants' leaves every so often as the heat from the lights will most likely dry out the top layer of soil and the plants benefit from some foliar feeding.

yeah right now I have the light about 9" to a foot away. I put the light that far away because it looked like some of the leaves had burn spots and were wilting. I water them every couple of days...i would say roughly 2-3 days and I usually put about 1 liter or less in them. I mist them about once or twice a day and get the soil moist. Should I still try to put the light down? I gets pretty hot and the ventilation is poor.

Well try the method I described before. The more light you can aim directly on the plants the better.

Plus only try to mist when you water. Plants do use the water you spray on them, but only 10% of it is actually used in photosynthesis. They utilize water the most in the rootmass (the soil).

Also try adding a fan or two for circulation and get working on that exhaust/intake setup.

Keep us posted.

yeah I have a circulating fan but I dont have a vent in the room so I need to get an exhaust fan in the room which I should be getting shortly. I also think I will be getting a 600W HPS soon

Before you upgrade the lights make sure you consider the temperature it creates and the amount of electricity it uses.

For a closet grow I would say yes. However the more light the better. If you can find an efficient way of venting the heat a 400w HPS generates as well as taking into consideration how many amps of electricity it uses (I believe 6 or 7) then go for it.

okay so today I readjusted the light to being about 4-5 inches above the plants. I am going to water them tomorrow. I am also going to plant them in grow bags.

Okay so here are the new pics. It is now DAY 15 and I am so excited...they are getting so big! I havn't gotten any exhaust fans yet but I am working on it. Also I need to get some kind of smell killer because they are starting to smell! Any suggestions?

The temp can get up to 83 sometimes if the door is closed. but i think i am going to get an exhaust fan soon. I also ordered a carbon filter for the room so the smell will go by by

I think I am also going to be getting an exhaust fan here soon. But I think that I have a problem with two of the plants. The bottom leaves are getting yellow and they are wilting a little bit. What could be the problem? cal def? mag def? I have not added any cal mag or anything else
