I thought it be cool if people shared any experience or info of what goes on behind closed doors of wherever youve worked before. Like McDonalds, Bestbuy, any restaurant, post office.... anything. Anything that is done that would normally be kept secret like stealing, scamming customers etc.
Ive basically only done private work and cant add much info myself but it be great if anyone could give us some nice stories.

Use to work for Applebees. There were more illegal imagrents working in the kitchen than there were standing outside of a HomeDepo, and thats saying something. What I found funny was most of them lived in the same apartment, so they would all show up in the morning in the same pickup. It was like a illegal clown car.

I work for Domino's and as much as I hate the management and the company, there's nothing seriously wrong that happens with the food. The dough isn't frozen, and it's always a really clean place (there is actually no freezer at our store). We have certain cleaning schedules that have to be completed by certain times of every day. And we always have corporate and secret shoppers coming in to check things out.

The management and the company, however, they're shitty. Domino's as a whole does not care about its employees or customers. They're a very Christian, anti-minority, anti-Semetic company. The training videos I had to watch specifically talked about the Golden Rule and God's Will when working for Domino's The anti-Semetism and anti-minority status is just based on the history of the company. Like Ford, they used to not hire people who were openly Jewish.

Another thing we claim is a 30 minute guarantee. In the 1980s Dominos used to say that if you didnt get your delivery in 30 minutes it would be free. Their employees would then be held monetarily responsible for any "late deliveries" (funny thing is, most deliveries take 35-40 minutes). So drivers would drive like crazy, speed 20 over, run stop signs and lights, cut people off, etc. It's probably where people get the idea of insane delivery drivers. But they were only doing what the compnay made them do. Finally, a driver killed a woman in Austin, TX and Dominos had to start settling hundreds of lawsuits for millions of dollars (by both customers and employees). So now when we say, "You got 30 minutes," it's not actually a guarantee, but rather a poor estimate. I actually refuse to say it on the phone because it's a blatant lie (I choose to give customers an accurate time).

Actually, I don't do a lot of the immoral things the company and management want us to do, and I do get in trouble for it every now and then, as do other drivers. But whatever, they'll have to fire me if they have a problem with it. I'll never quit so I'll be able to claim unemployment.

Oh something else about Dominos that we're not supposed to be telling people yet. Within the next few months we will be offering subs and ice cream for both carryout and delivery. I think it's our sad way of trying to compete with Hungry Howies.

I used to work at mcdonalds, and if your an asshole with the person working on drivethru, there is a chance your food will be fucked with. Although people never did anything to food to normal people and the store was actually really clean most of the time.

I don't know if this is worth mentioning. but for the big electronics retailers and how they have "non commission based sales people" ... this is kind of true and kind of not true.

so, we have one department where the regular entry level associates get bonus checks (they sell TVs). every other department only has their hourly checks. not only that, but if our sales numbers are not up to snuff, they cut our hours. so not only do we not see any more money for doing a better job, if we slip, we don't work. it's one of the most back asswords way of running a business I've experienced. I've worked retail a long time and something has changed in the last few years. it's disgusting and almost unavoidable. I hate my job

I used to work for a lumber company. We offered free delivery on there lumber orders, or so they thought. My boss would just hide the delivery charge in all the other fee's.

They would also claim to have received damaged tools, write it off and take the stuff home. But usually they would just take stuff off the shelves!

I left that place as soon as i could find another job......The place closed 6 months later. Oh fuck it the place was 84 lumber

I worked for a gym for a year, and managed the housekeeping staff. If you've ever been to a gym, there are usually towels and spray bottles full of disinfectant to wipe off your equipment after your done. The gym was losing money, and instead of buying disinfectant, they bought other shit. So we filled the bottles that were supposed to be disinfectant with water and Windex. Staph infections up the butt! They lost alot of business after I left. As well as alot of housekeeping.

I worked at an ice cream factory. It basically composed of three types of people: older white folk, immigrants, and ex convicts.

I got the best deals on bud ever.

One day the operator of my station got the tip of his middle finger cut off, and they made the hispanic guy pick it up and give it to one of the top guys. It coulda just been that he was closest to it.

Look at it from a business aspect. If sales are down they can not afford to be paying a bunch of people standing around with their hands in their pockets in the cool AC watching TV's instead of selling them. They have to sell those TVs to pay for the (over head) payroll, products, electricity, rent, insurance, 401k, advertising, phones ect. and still make a profit to stay in business. If sales are down hours go down because cash flow is down. It's not because they want to punish you its just they can not afford to pay for the same amount of staff if sales are down. The TV's are there biggest money making department with higher profit margins so they can afford to give a bounus on TV sales where other departments have lower profit margins. Its nothing personal its just business.

that would be a great argument except it misses one point. if you have no one working in the store, you don't have anyone to buy from. I wasn't referring to a place that has tons of employees standing around doing nothing. we have enough to cover the departments and actually are one 'test market' where we don't have anyone covering the biggest department in the store (music/movies/games/etc). we used to have people working in that department, but no longer. sure, cutting costs is one thing. but placing employees in an environment where success isn't an option and you just end up with a retarded cycle of lay offs/quittings/new employees that just doesn't make sense to me.

you feel me?

and the A/C in the store has been broken for 2 months.
