So I want to break up my seeds most of them I want in the freezer for long term storage.
I’ll leave a few of each in a sealed container in the fridge for sooner use
im thinking I have some extra little C-vaults.
What you guys think of using them with silica or dehydrated rice for storage?

I have the same little unit in my gun safe works surprisingly well considering I grow indoors and have aquariums

Yep that's exactly where I found this guy was in the gun safe section! Handy little thing, but "hot" tip.. dont leave them plugged it for extended periods of time or they will melt... I learned this the hard way!

I was planning on doing this but above someone had mentioned that the humidity inside a mini fridge can get very high, also I was under the impression you want them in the dark, but you have a glass front there. Sounds like you have been doing this a few years though and no issues. Good to know!

I keep the fridge in the cold cellar in the unfinished part of my basement where the environment is always cold and dry all year round. Most of the time the sealed/unsealed seedpacks are kept in the dark. In the beginning I monitored the temp/humidity conditions ~ every 12 hrs for 2 months just to make sure fridge is working properly for long term storage. I also keep them in the original retail packs they come in, even after opening. I also try my best to store the seed packs in those Sterilite bins for some organization. So far this system works for me. Currently I have no problems with geminating older sealed and unsealed seed packs.

This thread breaks my heart because back in the 70's, I had a half gallon jar that was full of all kinds of landrace seeds,,,Oaxacan, Columbian, Acapulco Gold, Panama Red...maybe even a Thai seed or two...All of them got thrown out because back then if you got caught with something like that, it was a prison sentence...got scared and threw them out....damn.

I did something similar at a Rainbow Gathering over a decade ago. I entrusted my collection to some dude from Oregon who I thought I could trust who was bugging out early due to law enforcement going particularly nuts that year. I had my family with me and I thought the risk too great, and he promised to meet up afterwards. Never could get ahold of him. Kick myself about once a month still, but not so much anymore.
I only had it all with me due to being essentially homeless at the time, with young kids. Hard times...

The only strain I am really, really upset about losing is the one Mendocino Shoreline seed I had found. I should've just grown it out when I had the chance. That high was god-like and all I got was a quarter bag. Now I'm still searching for it but nobody but Kevin Jodrey has ever said anything about it. I've tried reaching out to people in Mendocino about it but nada.
