Life without electricity. Would you survive?

I've got to find me some Vietnamese folks to hang out with. I LOVE bbq. I'm serious. You could bbq a pile of dog shit and I'd probably scarf it down.
Back in 85' I was working for Omni builder's and we got a job to finish building some apartments ( inside the perimeter down by the hoch , near vining's ) the concrete structure was already in place and had been for years. So Vietnamese people had been squatting in this open complex , living on bare concrete , open fire cooking, shitting in pots . And it was hard to get rid of these folks. This place stank like unbelievable stank .

'85 was the year I graduated from high school...in Marietta.[/QUOTE

My second apartment was dead across South Cobb from Earl Small's HD and when the Vietnamese moves in the apartment across the street from us my neighbor came by and said if you have cats don't let them outside ever again. Well we didn't but sure as hell all the neighborhood cats disappeared in a week or two. After that you could set trash on the porch and it wouldn't get touched . No shit...

I remember when an Asian family bought the triple decker in my grandparents old neighborhood, I think there were at least 4 generations in that house. Cats disappeared but they were replaced by chickens running all over the neighborhood. I honestly think the chickens drove the cats out.. city cats didn't know what to do when a bird as big as them attacks...lol.I saw one of their roosters really tear up a cat.

funny story^^
I watched a stray little black cat behind my pond try to take down a tall blue herring starting at the neck. Poor bird was hunting in the shallow end and the cat jumped him. They fought, bird took flight after a couple tosses.

I'd eat chickens before dogs, dogs before cats though, your neighbors ate the cats I think

We should all meet up over at whitebb2727's homestead, although he might will shoot us.
Nah. Well maybe a couple members I would shoot.

Otherwise it takes a village.

Survival by ones self would be hard.

We got room.
sure it really is not hard ........just think ahead alittle before the power goes out

1 where to find water and how to bring it back to where u need
2 where your getting your supply of fire wood
3 where u are going to go hunt and who is going to butcher it
4 u need to start digging a root celler for veggie and salted meats to be stored in
5 thing is get as many books as u possible can on every subject as u are not able to look it up on the net

and if u really want to make power for your place u can do it just need to think about how solar wind water peddle power ........hell 1000 bucks can set u up a system that will run a frig or computer and tv

he might shoot u all i am pretty sure i am safe .....we will just make some shine and get drunk
Always need at least one crazy guy.

With you making shine it would free me up to do other things.

Yes but he's bat shit so if you allow him in you keep him on a very short leash! I do NOT want to wake up dead! If I do I blame YOU.

Well I like living in my rural community. I have chickens, garden, and of course my medical grade marijuana, so maybe I have a leg up on some other people. I know friends who have cattle, sheep and goats.

I started learning survival skills when I was in Boy Scouts and have several books on various different kinds of "primitive" skills like bow making, flint knapping, and the like.

We also have horses. 1 for each family member.

How am I doing so far? Lol
