Light and irregular foliage on new 3 week olds

Hello,

I have a few three week old's, started from seed and germinated in a paper towel and transplanted into miracle grow soil. These have been watered via a wick method, and have been plenty moist (possibly to much water in wick method?) for their duration. Light is not an issue, temp has been 73-80 degrees, humidity was high for a little bit in first week or two around 60-70 now %55-50. I am most concerned about the last three pictures as their foliage is the lightest, the second one in has had the spotty-ness since seed although continues to have the spotty foliage. The first on has not been growing jack shit but is stacking new growth, and the third one in is actually a clone who is going the best and is a little older. Any ideas would be great, i am lost as i don't think the soil would have and deficiencies this early on, the leaves are wilting down a bit on the ends and are not perky. could this we something with the watering strategy?

thats what i thought... its sand, i saw mold on top of the soil as i left a beer in there for 3 days and mold started to grow. I went in triage and scooped of the top layers and re soiled and put sand on a super thin layer, it works well with the wick method when starting (if you dont overwater). The sand acts as a neutral block and help from a gnat problem.
