Light Deprivation Greenhouse

so, i've decided that i want to build one and have a budget of $500-$800 in mind.

i have several competing plans in mind for a greenhouse that is approximately 16' long x 8'wide x ~10' tall, and a good plan about what material to use to cover it.

but i can't figure out a good idea on how to remove and replace the light deprivation cover each day.

the best idea i could come up with is to treat it almost like a shower curtain and use some guides, but i'm not sure if that would even work so easily.

please throw your ideas at me, because right now i need some fresh thought on this.

one time-

on Knight Rider. i saw a guy mix dishsoap in car paint. then he paints the car, robs a bank, and goes directly to the car wash. lo and behold the paint washes right off, and he gets away! maybe you could try this on your house? knight rider paint.

wait..............maybe it was Dukes of Hazard. lol

Itd be cool if you had some retractable awning type deal to do it automatically, but I dnt no how well that work. If it were me Id do it the old fashion way, by hand. Id have a person on each side simply roll back your cover. As for a cover, maybe some thick black painters plastic, and outdoor tarps over that, and tie the tarps down secure? just a quick idea, Im sure with some fore planning youll figure it out.

552.jpgIt will work fine, mon has done it to 8 footers high and 13 feet wide plants, these were just done super early to avoid being ripped.....just make the pvc higher, it can be adjusted to whatever height you need.

aw-

i was just bein crass. you are aware if it was you asking for help, buck would've flamed you.
don't really care, buck can flame away......mon always got fire, anyway mon almost always agree with uncle buck, he seems pretty reasonable "for a troll" and is right most of the time .Anyway always good to see how others see things even if you don't agree to it.....mon does like to see others perception, doesn;t mean they are correct but it does help mon to think outside of the box. Besides uncle buck is very entertaining and has made mon chuckle once or twice.

what I have seen it a piece of conduit on either side that is the height of your greenhouse with a piece of conduit connecting the two and then you put your blackout plastic to that crossbar and then just swing the conduit over and it pulls the black out plastic over and vise versa.....not sure if this makes much since but you see it a lot with diesel trucks carrying large loads of dirt and stuff..its how they tarp the top over....hope this helps and makes sense

Can't help thinking that if I wanted shade I would be planting climbers or silver birches etc but that's just me.

still having trouble imagining exactly how that would work, but i'll take a look online.

the only real solution i'm looking for now is how to get the greenhouse covered and uncovered every day, using only one person, and done in such a way that won't be too much of a hassle.

and looks like someone rustled muffy's chiffon panties. gee, wonder who did that?
