Light distance vs heat

Hello.

Let's say I have a 1000w light can I put it 6 inches away IF I can actually keep the air around the plants at say 75-80? Would they thrive better?

1000w light you want to keep at least 1-1.5ft above/away from the canopy dude :S especially if it aint air cooled.
here's that famous chart to help you fo' reference.

It will be air cooled. I will have AV vents hooked straight into the reflector. I also will have an exhaust system removing light bulb heat. I also plan on running a reducer to lightly blow on top of the plants. I'm 95% sure I can keep temps below 80. Just want to make sure that "too much light" isn't a bad thing. Assuming the temps stay safe

Ahh I see what the chart means. Didn't notice "light not heat". Can someone explain why/how a plant can get to much light

You might google the how/why im sure you'll find a nice scientific answer but from actual personal experience I've witnessed the fan leaves stay abnormally small and the growth of the plant stunted while lights were less than 1 foot away. raised the lights 2 ft away and watched them start to grow like magic with fan leaves the size of your hand
