Ok so I wired my first light fixture today. I got 2 sockets from a chandiler and I hooked them up to a 2 prong extension cord. I was holding the socket and got shocked. Theres a piece of metal where the cords hook into the socket. I dont wanna have a fire so how do I get rid of this. they were originally screwed into metal bracket things should I have left them in there. Should I wrap electrical tape around the metal part? Also how many sockets can I put on one 2 prong extension cord safetly.
