Light Height??

If i'm growing under a 400w HPS how high should i place the light above the plants? The light is in an air cooled reflector if that helps.....

If its in an aircooled hood then you can get the light as close as you want as long as the plants arent burning or bleaching.

...I agree. I'd personally hang the light 12" above your canopy...try to keep an even canopy, stack plants ontop of object if some are shorter than others.

what about a 1000 watt hps in an air cooled hood? how close could the light be to four plants in a 4'x2' closet?

...imo, 18" away from the 1k.

12 to 18" away. Place your hand at your plant's height and if it's too hot than raise your lights.

So if i'm leaving 1ft between light and top of plants, then pots and drainage tray will be around 1ft in height too. Then the light fitting around 1ft too, thats 3ft total. How much room is best to leave for the plant itself? I'm growing 2-3 GH Church seeds...... Would a 5ft high room be enough?

...I've grown The Church before, she make big fat colas btw....her finished hieght depends on her hieght at the time of flip to 12/12. How tall was she when you put her into flowering?

Well i've not started yet just getting myself ready as its my first grow and wanna get it right... What height would you recommend to be at at time of flip to 12/12?

...well, if your growing from seed, I would let her get about 12" tall before flip'n.
...if your growing from clones, I put my clones straight into flowering once I have roots.
