light leak ???

hi all .

my question .i have just flipped 12/12 ,one week in .i have my light cycle lights off in day time .

i haven't got any light leaks in my room ,but could i do any harm ,by just quickly going in to my outside grow room in the daylight hrs. ......im in quickly shutting the door behind me & putting a low light head torch on ,do what i have do then out again .

its not full on day light or sun shinning in bright or strong light when i open or shut the door .

i don't want to go in if i can help it, but i have had to go in on a couple of occasions now .

could this do harm

Why not change the time your lights are on? If you've had to go in on a couple occasions in a week, seems like simple solution.

'IF' you keep doing this AND you have genetics with any tendency to herm whatsoever, you are going to get herms' and seed out your crop. I'd imagine you could also increase the length of your flowering time by doing this.............it's bad practice............your flower room should be just that, a flower room, there shouldn't be any reason to go in there when lights are off

I'm not a stickler for light leaks, my tents are old and have a few holes, but I'd never purposely open the doors during lights off, that interferes with the plants lights out time and can trigger hormonal changes within the plant

I have to work in my flower room from time to time during lights out. I hang a dark curtain in front of the door and it blocks the light and covers the door as I enter.

When i had a large grow i used to go into the flowering area every now and then for various reasons when the room was dark. I cut a flap of panda film (light proof plastic) and hung it over my doorway, so when i would open the door the room would be blocked by the film and u can close door behind u before opening the film thus no light gets to the plants. This is the same idea as michigan has said, though i have found normal curtaims/blankets to not be nearly as good as plastic. I also used a green head-light, it may be total bullshit but they make them for this purpose and i used one many times without ever having an adverse effect on my plants. I would still avoid shining any light even a green one on the plants. Also i would do this as a last resort, green light may help but any light risks freaking out your girls, especially some strains.

I agree the plastic would be more light proof. I have a very good shadow on the plants from where I enter and the way the door swings in. So it isn't a huge issue. It works better if the door opens out. I kind of stand behind the curtain and open the door already covered.

There is green led display lighting on my Titan light controller. It softly illuminates the room with green light. I have never seen a problem even though now I read plants do use the green spectrum. I use a regular green 15w CFL from the dollar store to see at night. I have not seen any problems I can relate to light leaks.
