Light question ☀️

So I’ve been using a 2x2 for veg and it says it goes down to 1.5x1.5 area for bloom which was perfect for until I moved and was reduced to 1.5x2 area. Do I need to look for such a specific coverage or can I just use a 2x2 and just run one plant at a time. Any guidance is appreciated :)

That's such a small descrepancy that I wouldn't be phased at all. That space is limited to one plant anyway unless your going 12/12 from clone. Normally with a 120w light and a single plant, a 2x2 space will be filled in 4 weeks of veg..
Thank you very much. Ill be running OG Lemon Larry auto this time around in like 4 gal pots. Love them lemony strains. Should I start my pots small and work my way to bigger pots with autos? I’ve heard both sides of the transplant argument.

It depends on your watering skills. If you are up to scratch with watering frequency and amount, starting in 3 or 5 gal pots is fine, but if you have a habit of over or under watering it can be hard to keep the moisture level right, and starting in a smaller pot could be the go.

If you are steady with your hands and follow procedure, transplanting isn't much of a risk.

I have far better luck starting in 3 gal pots myself but I'm apparently the odd one out.

Watering is much easier in a properly sized container. Your auto wont mind getting moved up as it grows.
I start in seed starters and move to solo cups, then to final container.

Im not sure how this can be done improperly. Usually i fill a pot with the existing one in it. Pull it out and put the plant in the new soil..
Sometimes, i pull the plant out of the pot and score the roots and place in the new pot. Never had an issue

Thank you all for your guidance. Seedsman sent me a plethora of seeds that I didn’t pay for that I got with a purchase. Idk if that’s typical of seedsman but I had a extra 8 beans all being different strains like lemon autos and purple punch. Even with 3 of the 5 lemon Larry’s and 2 of the freebies (Alaskan purple) being smashed on arrival I’m pretty happy:).

how would I go about scoring my roots? I’ve always tried to be a delicate as I can not to damage or even touch to rooms with photo periods.

That's the method I use as well. Can't go wrong in my eyes. Plus I strangely like the clean hole the pot method leaves. I might be ocd.

I've seen a fair share of botched transplants in my time and though. Usually people transplanting too early with no root structure and the whole pot of medium just crumbles the second they pull it out lol, leaving this tiny string of roots.
