Light Schedule Interruption

Hi All,

So I made a super noob move and left my timers on 24/0 for about 1 week. They had been on 18/6 for about 1 month of veg until this happened. The problem is, I was planning on switching them to 12/12 soon. I was wondering if anyone knew if this super stresses them out? I hope because I am in veg they will be a bit more forgiving. How long should I let them stabalize at 18/6 before I flip to 12/12?

Thanks folks,

They should be just fine man, some people veg exclusively 24/0 right up to flower so it won't stress them out, going back to 18/6 for a week will probably just stress them out from the continuous change in photo period (18/6 then 24/0 then back to 18/6, not good), I have heard its good to do 24hrs of dark before you start flowering as its supposed to help flowering start a little sooner but on the same token Ive also heard it makes no difference, you should be just fine going to 12/12 any time, no worries.

Ah, I see. Well this was last night, and I wanted to do some cloning and lollipopping before flipping them to 12/12 so I thought I would switch it back to 18/6 again for a couple of days. I guess I can flip tonight and lollipop and clone from them during week 1 or 2 flower, correct? This would be better than letting them re adjust to 18/6 for a few days before 12/12, right? Thanks for the help guys.

Oh, and I caught this problem last night around 4AM. My cycle is on at 6AM off at 12AM. So, I switched it and they had about 2 hours of darkness last night until 6AM when they were switched on again and have been on since. Should I just shut the light off tonight at normal time (12AM) and then wait till my new flowering cycle (on at 6PM, off at 6AM) to kick in? That would be about 18 hours of darkness before flower flip.

I would just keep them at 24/0 until flower, you'll get faster growth anyway, if you want to top, lollipop and clone do it during veg, never during flowering as it will stress the plants which is not something you want during flowering, not to mention any clones you take during flowering will have to regress back to veg mode which will stress them and it will take longer for the clones to root, so always remember to do your topping, fimming, lollipoping & cloning during veg. After you top, lollipop, clone (anytime you cut the plant) you want to wait until the plant heals and recovers from the stress before you start flowering, you can ask any experienced grower and they will agree. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you for the advice. I actually topped and fimm'ed about 1 month ago. In only a month they went from 5'' to 24'' with about 4-8 colas per plant. This is by far my best grow thus far. So I already topped.. but I want to lollipop and clone, so what your saying is keep it at 24/0 until flower eh? You don't think the 2 hours of darkness I gave them last night will fuck it up any? Alright Ill change it back to 24/0 and wait to flower until a couple days from now (when i lollipop & take clones).

If you are planning on doing those things you should do them now, then give your plants time to heal , then and only then switch to 12/12.

How long should I wait to flower after cloning/lollipopping?
After you top, clone etc.(any time you cut the plant) the plant has to produce certain chemicals to repair the damage, during this process the plant stops new growth, once the plant is healed and the process is finished the plant starts focusing energy to new growth, this process usually takes 1-2 weeks or so, once you see new growth at a healthy rate then the plant is ready for flower.
