Light Schedule Perfection

I have done quite a few grows in my life but what is still a mystery is the perfect light schedule. I've noticed the less time the lights are on the more the plants actually grow. Here is why I think that happens.

Survival!

We all know plants respond to light cycles, but to ME, I think if a plant is "born" in the late stages of normal life cycles it knows it doesn't have much time left to mature and produce to continue its existence. Therefore producing a less lazy and more productive plant. Now this is just my opinion, I would love to see a journal where 24/0 was used and the plant grew like crazy from the start BEFORE switching the lights.
I am not talking about 12/12 specifically but lower light schedules like 14/10 or lower.

What are your thoughts?
