Light time for veg question

is it possible that you can grow a plant in veg for

lights on - 23 hours 30 mins
lights off - 30 mins

if I can get a n answer then it would be perfect

PS - I know it seems dumb and what not but could this turn my plants into a hermi doing that?

Not sure what will happen, but if your using H.I.D. thats not going to be good for your ballast.

if it works very well i would be very surprised.... :peace: maybe with more like 3 hours (dark) it could work much better... as for hermi???? no clue??

why? whats the point in 24 and a half hours on,and half an hour off...25hr. cycle? just that 1 word...why?

I sort of fail to see the advantage in somethin like that wxcept that first it is an even harder cycle to keep control over, and secondly just the wear it puts on the ballasts and bulbs and stuff would be the reason I would stay away from it. and that it would probably stress the plants into hermieland...My first rule of play is to keep it as real as nature....so light cycles like that are just unnatural and therefore for me a bit useless....

comes down to the old expression ''if it ain't broke don't fix it''

but its nice to have people bring these ideas out though its always food for thought, never know what brain storm idea can come out of that....

Hey Frost, if there is a really good growing reason to do that like ''ur plants will double and stuff ok but otherwise not sure... what are the advantages anyway?

ok i think i just woke up and understood the cycle frost is talkin about...sorry guys shouldn't smoked right after gettin up today...lol

a plant needs a minimum of 18 hours light to stay in veg state soi you can pretty much do it like you want as long as you stay within that first rule....18 hours min. and stayin very constant with your cycles....the rest I think is up to you.

I veg 24hrs/24 but for a while I did 18/6 and then came back to 24

so its 24 1/2 hours on and 1/2 hour off ,,,,but why not just do 18/6 or 24/24 why just that one half hour off

Using CFL's there's no problem at all. For the first few weeks running 24/0 is great for the plant.

I was just looking at your journal...if your vegging your plant you need 6500K bulbs, not the 2700K. All your doing is promoting stretching, and get more then 1 light...you need about 5 on that plant to get great results. At flowering then you would use your 2700K bulbs, and you'd want to use at least 6 of those as close to the bud sites as possible in order to acchieve proper resin production.

I did my first grow with 23w CFL's at 23/1... Don't really know why. They turned out fine. Didn't grow very tall, but got pretty bushy. Doubt the light schedule had anything to do with bushiness but whuteva

cool good luck with your new grow, I've been pondering if I should take my 4 BC mangos for a clone each cut they are growing very nicely and starting to bush out at the bottom
