Lighting 240 w or 400 hps?

Hi guys my grow cab is 2.5x2.5x4ft high and can't decide on the lights,

should I get 250 or 400 watt hps, I plan to do a two plant scrog so in that space will I benefit much from the 400 over 250?

heat may be an issue so with 400 I will have to use an air cooled hood, would that be necessary for the 250?

Would it be advisable to get air cooled hood with Perspex for 250 anyway to get the light closer to the plants?

also is this ventilation ok for my grow room or will it be too much overkill?

Imo, if you can get rid of the heat, go for the 400W.
The vent does not sound like over-kill to me, especially if you go with the 400.

Thanks for your reply, if I go with the 400 will an air cooled hood or a cool tube solve any heat issues? If so is there much difference between these two in terms of functionality? I think I would lean more towards the tube as it is more compact?

Not at all, whatever the plants like best is what I look for :) i did originally intend on mh for veg and hps flower but got told to use a dual hps start to finish as it makes no difference really and the girls like a bit of blue in flower?

I've heard this too. But never seen anyone prove it
 
Every hps from veg I've seen was super stretchy and took forever to properly veg. get a 6500k MH for veg.

I have to disagree... MH and cfls are ideal for vegging plants, although i'm sure your girls will veg under the hps(but will be stretchy) I would strongly recommend staying 6400k for veg and an hps for flower. I have also heard that flowering plants can benefit from a bit of blue light but I'm fairly certain that vegging plants don't require the extent of red spectrum the hps provides.
I veg with 500w of 6400 clfs and my girls love it :)
also I dont aircool my cfls but I would aricool any mh or hps you purchase... better safe than sorry :)
 
Thanks for the replys guys :) it's decided then 400 mh veg and hps flower cool tube / hood.
anyone know the best place to get lights from, iv looked all over the net and can't find a deal as good as the 400w cooltube and ballast in mr2shim's sig that is awesome! They don't post to the uk unfortunately :(
