lighting during flowering

Well Im into 2 weeks of flowering and everything is going great. I vegged 8 plants for 2 months and have tons of bud sites. I now have a 600watt hps in a 5x6 grow room. I have another 600watt fixture and was wondering would 2 600 watt hps be a little overkill or should one work just as good. I have it so I can slide my fixture side to side. I basically move the fixture twice a day to get a even canopy. I'm always trying different thing to get a bigger yeild

I dont think its overkill. Its not much more than a 1000 except with a better light footprint

2 600w for a 5x6 area will be good....1 600w is good for a 4x4 area, so it will be ok to have both going in your area...long as temps are in check.

Should be able to run (2) 600 w off one breaker without a problem if you've got a 20 amp on it. Overkill is the way to go with lighting, all other factors being held in check. The sun is much, much brighter than many 1000 w HPS lights. And the idea is to mimic that sunlight as close as possible. Crank up those lumens and let 'er rip!

While I agree that the second 600 watts will be a plus, the suns lumens that reach ground aren't what you think. On a clear sunny summer day the lumens at ground level are around 10000. A 600 watt hps put out way more than that.

Ok, I put it in and damn its bright lol. I want a big yield before I move into a house and build my own room

I just put the ballast at 75% for the second fixture so it dont get to hot. I have the window open and turned off the co2 to help bring cool fresh air

make sure the circuit youre on can handle the amps. if it can, drop that 2nd HPS in there STAT if you want a better yield!
5x6 is too big for a single 600w
